Does anyone know if the German outfit Chilly had any releases besides their self-titled lp from 1978/79 (both dates are listed on the credits)? They had a electronic-rock sound a la Moroder's "American Gigolo" soundtrack.

Thanks for the info, Sirius. I recently bought the '78 lp and was happily surprised at the consistency of the tracks across the whole album. I thought the group had an interesting concept and approach to disco. Is the second album similar in style? Is it as good?

Dear Discodjinn! Certainly the second LP is

not so fabulous than the DebutLP, but I like

the tracks "Sunshine Of Your Love" (Cover-

version, what else!) and "Come To L.A."...

the rest is mostly crap...it is also more

rocky than the first one. Beware of the

single called "C´mon Let´s Go"...they become

more and more DanceRockPop. But also look

for BLACK JACK with Titles like "Nag Nag",

"Y-O-U" or "Hot Passion". And what about

Orlando Riva Sound?

For quality euro stuff inspect sleeves for producer/writer/composer names such as Drion (Chocolat's, Bouzouki Disco Band), Monn (Amanda Lear, Magnifique), Krueger (Nite School), Rallo (Les Allumettes), Michele ( Dalida, Madleen Kane) or Orieux (Jumbo, Charingo). For strong cheese trust Janschen&Janschens (sic), play their Luv, Veronica Unlimited, Dingo etc. at your next party and sort the wimps out.

Thanks again, Sirius. I think I'll pass on a search for any more Chilly-- my house could be overflowing with lp's that have one decent track and awful filler. As for ORS, I LOVE "Moonboots" but haven't been able to find anything more about the act. Within the last 48 hours your message was the second time I encountered the full name of the group. I had just gotten my U.S. edition of "Saturday Night Forever" book (I know, what a freak, buying two copies of the same book!) and saw the mention while flipping through. Maybe I'll find something in the crates after all. I don't know Black Jack and am reasonably sure I haven't spotted it while flipping through vinyl at the markets.

JussiK-- maybe buying two copies of the same book is a good thing! I thought the addition of an index to the new edition was a great move, and I'm a sucker for any list of "Essential" titles. As for Euro-disco at parties, I'm afraid I live in a rural area and have long ago exhausted my friends' tolerance for ANY disco in my house or car. Mine is strictly a solitary interest-- the plight of country boys.

Orlando Riva Sound's album was released in the US by Salsoul (SA 8522) in 1979. Also several 12" singles were issued by Salsoul-Tom 'n' Jerry ("Body to body boogie" / "Moonboots" SG 303, "Moonboots" 12T-6000, "Indian reservation" SG 333)

Orlando Riva Sound also put out a so-so track called OTT - as Over The Top - in 1978.

There was also a "Studio 54 remix", by Joe Carrasco, of "Indian Reservation" out in 1980 in Italy. This is on the same "Studio 54" double album as a strong electronic version of Heather Parisi's bad taste classic "Disco Bambina". The latter unfortunately did away with Heather's mortifying vocals, though.

2 copies of the disco book - well, I'm flattered! I only wish the publisher had let me have my way and really wallow in the eurodisco dept...
