Default Grace Pulling a Diva Act..Darling please come back to earth

Grace Jones...at it again

The singer, who counts slapping a chatshow host live on air, abusing a Eurostar employee and trashing a London apartment among her claims to fame, pulled out of a gig last night at the last minute...

Jones was booked to perform at the Marylebone launch of the LG Scarlet TV, for a fee of £75,000.
But just before a car was due to pick her up from The Dorchester, where she is staying, she had second thoughts. And why? Because she wanted more wedge.
“At the last minute she demanded an extra £25,000,” a source tells theBuzz. “The company spent ages trying to come to an agreement, but they just couldn’t do it.”
Noel Fielding, Queens of Noize and New Young Pony Club stepped in.
Say it aint so mama..
Please come back to earth my Diva

Ya know... You can never tell, with Grace.
I worked with her twice. Once at COPA Key West (***for an hour and a half show, where she stripped down, danced on table-tops and flashed her boobs!!!) and once at Uncle Charlie's, Miami. Both times she was friendly, on-time and gave GREAT performances.

BUT...(and maybe you remember this, Dayna?)
Legend has it, that at one of her performances at COPA Fort Lauderdale, she walked off stage without performing "I Need A Man". The audience was cheering and stomping for her standard encore. But she sat in the dressing room and said "no". The owner, John Castelli begged her to go out and end the show with "I Need A Man."

She looked at him and said..."Okay. For another $1000.00"

He agreed and she went out and did half the song, before walking off again.

***oh yeah... It's all coming back to me now...
She was higher than GOD that night. I remember 'cause the staff (DJ included) couldn't leave until after the owner left. And he was partying in the back with Grace. So we all sat around an empty club for 2 hours after it closed, waiting for them to come-out of the back office.

lol..She is a wild one..
I dont recall that night ,or lets say that stunt inperticular..
But she performed I think 3 times when I was there and she was a mess, and always LATE~!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember one night she had a midnight show
"YEAH RIGHT" she came waltzing in at 4 am and still had to get ready..
I told a story on another thread about her at one of my after parties .. that involved a piece of shrimp..
I wont re tell it..

At the beginning, when I started to see her on the media, it was a stunning and a shocking experience: I loved her and I hated her (like today).

She has style, but not too much grace! Still, I relish the taste of some of her songs.

Awwwww... At least gimme a link!

And... P.S. She was my Mom's favourite Disco singer. (Swear to God!) Moms couldn't get enough of the first two LPs. She said Grace had "a style", as opposed to "a voice". And likened her to Edith Piaf.

Of course, that's before Grace went publicity-bonkers.

Your mom was SO right about her interpretation of Grace.
Tom Moulton as much as said the same thing in our interview.."GO MOM"..and Lets face it, you wouldn't call her a vocalist, an entertainer YES~!! Same as my beloved Diana Ross..a unique voice but not a strong vocalist but the ultimate Entertainer and STAR..
OH the Shrimp..ok..I dont know where to find the link so I will re tell it in a shorter form.
Of course Grace had an audience at the party because..well she's GRACE
She was holding court then took a piece of Shrimp from a platter of cocktail shrimp tasted it lifted her skirt
Took the shrimp"rest it's soul"and slid it through her coochie just like a debit card thru a debit slot
took a bite ,all eyes were on her of course.. then she proceeded to say"IT WASN"T FISHY ENOUGH"
lol....everybody rolled with laughter ,and the party went on as normal"whatever that may be".

Very strangely, when Grace visited Finland, she made a live appearance on a DAYTIME CHILDREN'S TV SHOW, smiling sweetly and waving at the camera and addressing the kids and tapping their little heads, it was positively surreal. Every second I was expecting her to do something properly Grace-like like starting to juggle with the kids, but no, she kept behaving a fairy grandmother.

Well, all that 'charlie' doesn't come cheap you know! I was in a bit of a Grace mood today strangely enough & played 'Dont Mess With The Messer' in the car - fabulous. (it's on my 1979 'diva' CDR from which I also played Marlena Shaw's 'Havent We Been In Love Before', Melba's 'Pick Me Up Ill Dance', Donna's 'Heaven Knows' & Gloria's 'Let Me Know (I Have A Right)'
