.. Chicago-based dj Raahan has been spinning the Eddie Kendricks classic "Thanks for the memories" during his recent live sets .. the track is from Eddie's 1976 philly produced album "Goin' up in smoke" .. the track has proved so popular Raahan has remixed it for his new 12" EP called "Edits vol 1" .. check out the sound-clips on Juno: DJ RAAHAN - Edits Vol 1 .. the acompanying track "Walk" is a remix of the Skatt Brothers "Walk the night" .. and "Happy" is a remix of the Two Tons O' Fun "Make someone feel happy today" .. .. but I'm completely bemused by the first tune .. can anybody help? .. it sounds very good ..

Have you got the 12", Ashley? I was wondering if the Eddie Kendricks track had the first part of the tune as well (i.e. the uptempo part), or was it all breakdown riff like in the audio sample? Too bad it's not a remix from the original master tapes, I prefer those. Hey, this is slightly off topic, but if you like remixes of 70s dance tracks that remain slightly faithful to the original, you should check out the 12" Danny Krivit put of his remixes of Foster Sylver's Misdemeanor. Apparently it was done back in '86. I wonder if this was the source of the sample for the DOC track in '89 'Is It Funky Enough'? Misdemeanor remix Disco Funk

.. hello Disco Funk .. yes, I have the 12" EP .. all tracks are complete songs .. it's not one of those disco-mix samplers that simply repeats a section over & over again .. .. the Sylvers remix sounds fantastic .. it's not something I would have noticed myself .. I'll purchase a copy today .. many thanx .. .. if there's anything else out there I should know about, please tell me .. cheers again ..

.. I've finally discovered what the "Muzik" cut is on this superb 12" EP .. it's Le Pamplemousse "You can't get off on the music" from their '79 album "Le Pamplemousse" .. probably got overlooked at the time as the big U.S. club hits from this period were much more uptempo .. this is a moody funky vocal affair, sounding like an 80s boogie cut .. which is, I suppose, exactly what it is .. this should have been snapped up by the British soul mafia .. but sadly Rinder & Lewis productions had become very unfashionable with the UK soul crowd by '79 .. .. Rinder & Lewis were never forgiven or understood by the UK jocks for their Saint Tropez / Tuxedo Junction productions ..
