| After coming across another Philly International 12" with a different running time on the label compared with the actual song, I thought I'd start a thread about misprints on Disco era records. What have you guys come across? Just off the top of my head: Jean Carn - Was That All It Was 12" (label says 6:30 on 1979 pressing, but it's really 7 1/2 minutes) Dynamite Band - She's Dynamite 12" (label says both sides are the same song, but the flip side has a cover version of the Star Wars Theme. I didn't measure the running time of the track, but it's longer than the 4 minutes of She's Dynamite) O'Jays - Sing A Happy Song 12" (this was the other 12" I just discovered was wrong - 5:00 on the label, but the song is around 6:30) Laura Greene - Let Me Blow Your Whistle 12" (an obscure 12" of this 1979 track, the label says it's 3:55, but it's actually over 8 minutes long!). Any others? Disco Funk |

I assumed (and found weird) that US PIR pressings had been limited to the 6:30 mix, maybe the 7:44 released on Hot Tracks or other mix, and that they'd chosen the 7:44 as the official mix to be released in the UK... I've been wanting to acquire a US pressing of this track, but NOT the 6:30 mix, which seems to start fading out in the middle of the track... To return to the general topic, there's lots of misprints on record labels, especially on foreign pressings. Here's a few: -The Armed Gang: "Keep On Groving" ( Armed Gang Keep On Grooving b/w Everybody Celebrate (12") Disco Music.com ) -"New Paradise" LP, with track wrongly listed as: "Pick Up Me" ( New Paradise New Paradise (LP) Disco Music.com ) -Erotic Drum Band: "Action 78", with track listed as "Jerky Rythm" ( Erotic Drum Band Action 78 (Canadian LP) Disco Music.com ) .

| In the pre-digital era, time info errors are quite common. Sometimes because the time given was only an estimate, sometimes because the track was edited at the last minute and it was too late to update the artwork/copy info, sometimes because someone made a typo. Another bit of information that is often wrong is the mastering credits, especially on non US/UK pressings. Tom Moulton pushed labels to give mastering engineers credit, but that credit was usually only relevant for US pressings, and only first pressings at that. Foreign pressings still had the credit on them (because they just re-used the US artwork and changed only the legal info) even though they were mastered locally and sounded quite different. The mastering credit gets even more hilarious when you see it on cassettes... or CDs that were issued years after the original LP, and definitely not mastered by whoever was first credited. |

| The one misprint that comes to mind immediately for me is the Canadian 12" release of the Three Degrees' Set Me Free!!! Seven minutes and twenty seconds?! Not even close ![]()

| I once bought the italian album-press of "The New Harlem Funk" by the group Flowchart. The first link below shows the frontcover of the album , which actually gives the impression of being a backcover : http://www.popsike.com/php/detaildat...mnr=4039579477 In the other link you see a few examples of the blue-backsleeve with the photographed legs + album-title + tracklisting printed on one side ( popsike.com - flowchart - searchresults - rare vinyl records auction results |

| This may be true for every copy, but... My copy of Andrea True's "More, More, More" LP Has the tracks listed on the back cover, incorrectly. Inside the cover is a 5x10 piece of paper that reads: The proper sequencing is: Side A Party Line Keep It Up Longer More, More, More Side B Fill Me Up (Heart To Heart) Call Me P.S.: The physical record and label copy are correct. Sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused in your listening pleasure Anyone else's copy have this, too?

| This seems to be a common problem across the board with material from all sorts of performers. One that comes to mind that has stuck with me for years is David Cassidy's Greatest Hits album released by Bell Records in 1974. On the liner notes and on the album sleeve, one of the cuts on side one is listed as being Could It Be Forever, but when you listen to the album, its Blind Hope from his Cherish LP. No idea if this was ever corrected. |
