People have always danced and had fun, so not a lot of change happened per se, just the numbers involved at its height.

I wonder if AIDS would have been so prevalent among the Gay community if there hadn't been the explosion in the number of late night pick up joints (i.e. Discos), or the hedonism that went with the Disco genre. So maybe Disco was (unknowingly at first) directly responsible for making the world a worse place.

Disco was possibly (partly) responsible for the heavy duty attitudes toward the selling of liquor adopted by each and every brewing company nowadays. Before Discos and night clubs exploded in numbers, relatively few people drank until the wee hours (in the UK at least). Drinking habits of the majority were far more civilised. Late night drinking is now a curse of modern society with countless numbers of people getting 'totally out of their heads' every weekend. It has become so engrained in youth culture especially and the big breweries exploit it to the max.

Drug culture was also helped along by the need for people to maintain a certain level of enjoyment for longer periods (i.e. Discos with their late finishing times).

Certainly the rise in diposable income has been the major driving force behind alcohol consumption and drug use, but Discos have played their part in providing a back drop where this conspicuous public consumption can be practised.

I hardly think any genre of music could be responsible for the spread of a disease.. As for the pick up spots..
if someone wants sex bad enough they can find it anywhere.. Plus the rock n rollers were having just as much sex as the Disco people..
I myself choose to think Disco has made the world a better place..Without it, think of the fabulous music we would have been denied .
Secondly the bonds we created through the love of the music and the list goes on.
