Link to Unidisc discography Are there any resident experts here on Unidisc? I'm trying to sort out the 12" releases with the catalogue number SPEC-XXXX The main problem i am finding is that a lot of the releases have been reissued with different label designs and sometimes also different tracklistings. Also, some of the versions appear on the Unidisc sub-labels (Black Sun, Matra etc.) whereas other versions seem to be Unidisc releases. All in all it's a bit of a nightmare. The main way you can help is identifying releases where there are more than 1 version. The easiest way to do this is to check the label pictures on the entries. If there are none there, please feel free to add them. The problem we have at the moment is that a lot of them have pictures of the most recent reissue (the red/blue labels with the electricity bolts on them- released 2006?) instead of the original label pictures. The other problem is that a lot of the years are wrong. The correct year should be the year that the specific version was released. A lot of the entries mistakenly have the year as the original release date of the track. So, if you can help in any way it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have an Unidisc licence catalogue in openoffice format ods. I don't have OpenOffice installed at the moment, so I can't say what's in it. Here it is: Unidisccat.zip

Good luck with your project! I have made a slight attempt to make sense with all of their releases and I gave up. I believe that there is no real structure for numbering in their releases because there is simply no release schedule. The CDs are put on the market (and discontinued) at different moments. There is probably a very complex publishing rights issue that explains this. BTW, this topic opens the door to the following bitchin’ session: Unidisc have deceived me in many occasions but they are to me a necessary evil when it comes to vintage Disco/Dance releases. I haven’t had to purchase too many of their releases to find out that their quality control is poor. In at least two instances, there was an obvious problem with the recording (not the CD). ·Witch Queen - Bang A Gong ·A Night To Remember - Shalamar And the last - but not the least of the annoyance; many re-edits have been poorly re-mastered making the use of severe digital noise reduction. It creates noticeable and unpleasant audio artefacts. Anyone with a trained ear and a decent player can hear it. But again, Unidisc have negotiated the publishing rights on quite a large catalog so they remain in the driver’s seat. - Marcus

Thanks for the replies guys;O) I noticed the discography, but i'm looking for information on the different versions of each release. For example there seem to be at least 3 versions of SPEC-1240 Various - Untitled Cheri / Geraldine Hunt - Murphy's Law / Can't Fake The Feeling Cheri / Geraldine Hunt - Murphy's Law / Can't Fake The Feeling We need to make sure that there are actually at least 3 versions, and also that each version has supporting label images so that there is no doubt that they do in fact exist. I think there needs to be a lot of extra entries on the label page to reflect each different version. There are also a lot of releases on the Unidisc page that should be on sub labels (Matra, Black Sun etc.). But as there are no images of the labels as yet, it is hard to tell which these are.
