How's that for a heading !!!

Actually it's the
THEME FOR "FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH "
Philadelphia International 45
1973
3:19

.... apparently the theme for a Kung Fu movie of the early seventies. The song is performed by Bunny Sigler , who is also one of its writers and arranged by Richard (Ritchie Family) Rome, who is also another one of the writers , along with T-Life. Vocally ( beyond the grunts and strains and yells : Bunny?? ) it sounds like The O'Jays participated ...This is a fine record ... its rough and gnarly, kick 'em in the head , high action, cymbal crashing, stuff --- shades of Batman's Theme ( with the POW!s and WHAM!s replaced with Kawasaki ! Karate! Kungfutoo! Hi-yaa etc. ) yet with lots of strings and horns to offset it just right .... 1973 full bodied disco ..... which also includes a cool harmonica ....
Bunny Sigler is getting close to FREE MAN with this one ... same aggression ... but the easy mix would be to drop it right into Salsoul Orchestra's NICE AND NAASTY --- (oooo, that was naasty )

lyrics highlight:

Give me Superfly
Give me Shaft *
With one chop
I'll cut them in half !!

[color=Indigo]OK Disco Funk watcha know about this one ????[b]

* ( & heres one more link in the transition from SHAFT into DISCO )

Five Fingers of Death is the US title for Tian xia di yi quan aka King Boxer, an acclaimed 1972 Hong Kong kung Fu film. The theme was apparently recorded for the dubbed version for American distribution and not heard in other territories.

Aha!

Should've known you'd be familiar with this Jussi!! Wiki says this is the first such of the marital arts movie .... the one that started the craze ...

King Boxer aka Five Fingers of Death , in Chinese the title:Tian xia di yi quan translates to "Number One Fist in the World"

Anyway --- this guy is given the secret power of "the iron fist"' ,which makes him real popular ... and so mighty is this power ... ...
Look! His hands glow red!!

Another movie where special effects run amuck

In Hong Kong, studios like the Shaw Brothers had produced classic martial arts films since the mid 60's. "One Armed Swordsman" was made in 1967, and the all-time favourite "Golden Swallow" the year after. "5 Fingers.../King Boxer" was made in 1972 and a relatively late addition to genre. It's true that this was the one that kicked off the craze in the west but to say it's the first of such movies is yet another reason never to trust what Wiki says.

The classic phase was already over by 1975.

The Bunny Sigler Five Fingers of Death track has just been released on CD on the Conquer The World compilation by Sony. That compilation contains four more bonus cuts that weren't on the vinyl release from a few months earlier.

Here's the allmusic guide page with the audio samples (my fave of the bonus cuts, by the way, is Stop Taking My Love by Mello Moods - a real burner!):
