New Donna Summer album coming soon...

Rumour has it that the dance community is incredibly excited about the oncoming release of Ms. Summer's studio album ...her first full album of new songs since 1991. Key DJs (I'm not one of the them ) have been sent digital promos with remixes of the song I'm A Fire and, from the reviews I've read, it's hot stuff!

Strangely though, the first song to be released to radio is an out and out dance song called Stamp Your Feet! Can Ms. Summer possibly turn things around and convince youngsters to walk away from hiphop and feel love for that mighty disco heat?

It would be nice, but HipHop has been embedded into their brains and is the music of their era just as Disco is and was to us..
although if some of the youth have open minds and listen with an unbiased ear,you never know~!!
Anyway..I always welcome anything Donna does.and Look forward to the album..

She's failed to do that for the last 25 years or so, so I don't expect this new material to be any different. I'm amazed that she still makes dance material as she is rumoured to prefer rock & country music; I s'pose she knows her market. I love her body of work so much that I would forgive her anything! I know it's a cliche to say she's the queen of disco but that phrase sums her up so well as in the 70s her music was as pure disco as you could get, & so prolific too - in '76/'77 she just pumped out fantastic LP after fantstic LP. A true icon & superstar without doubt.

The fact that Miss Summer continues to record is something we should be thankful for. I remember buying the maxi-CD for her 1999 song, "I Will Go With You" and the "Live And More Encore" CD and they were all superb.

And.......she knows where the money is! I'm sure that they paid her a good and hefty sum (not millions but enough to tide her over) for this new album and project.

I doubt that one person can rekindle a disco/dance revival and pull these youngsters away from Hip hop/rap (wishful thinking), which has been around for a long time now (disco should have been but we can thank Dahl for that).

However, it may enlarge the disco and dance following so that it (disco) becomes a live market once again (clothing, fashion, and music!). It would be nice to at least have it exist again and the name openly discussed and talked about.

Would be exciting to see such a thing before we all get dirt thrown over us.

Well Madonna couldn't do it with her last album so I'm not banking on Donna Summer making any kind of an impact but it is nice to see the enthusiasm for the new album that I read on other dance music message boards.

There is a thrill spinning a new Summer tune in the clubs. I Will Go With You was a must-play for months when it first came out and still gets major cheers when its mixed in. And hearing her vocals ring out on her last hit I Got Your Love gave me chills everytime.

I'll confess that my club going days are behind us, and a great Saturday night today means, a great dinner (at home), the fireplace and the Pugs, BUT we still do get out to dance every now and again, and NOW with I'm A Fire, we'll have a reason to.

There is an excitement and magic about a new Donna Summer song and (this time) full CD that is not generated by ANY other artist.

Can't wait to hear the entire CD.

Further, I know there has been a ton of Donna Summer hit packages over the years, BUT a great compliation would be the Dance Tracks she recorded in the years since her last studio album (Mistaken identity) in 1991. Songs like Someday, Melody of Love, Love On and On, I Will Go With You, Love Is The Healer, Your So Beautiful, I Will Live For Love, I've Got Your Love, would all be great to see in one package.

Maybe I missed this--but who is producing/writing for/with Donna on her new release??? Any Giorgio Moroder/Pete Bellotte participation...and if not...WHY NOT????

I haven't read anywhere who's producing the album but the title of it is a bit odd....it's called Crayons. Whether that's set in stone who knows but so far that seems to be it and it's scheduled for a May release.

What will be nice is seeing her appear all over the talk shows in the months to come and watching the buzz happening...definitely something to look forward to. What will also happen is eventually every cut on the album will have various remixes and re-interpretations for the clubs.
