There was a series of CDs called Give Your Body Up released in the 90s, and one of the volumes contained a 7 minute version of 'Free Man' by South Shore Commission. I didn't know where they got that from because the LP mix was the longest version put out back then, at 5 1/2 minutes in length. So I guess Rhino found the original master tape for the 7 minute 'unreleased acetate' mix that is on this Tom Moulton Mix CD and put it out?

Hello Dayna .. If you have any further contact with Tom Moulton, would you please ask him about his recent remix versions of "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor & "I want you for myself" by George Duke .. the few people lucky enough to hear these new mixes have described them as 11 minute masterpieces .. are there any plans to make them available to the public? .. and will there be a "New York Classics vol 2"? .. or a "Tom Moulton Mix vol 2" on SoulJazz? .. or any further 12" releases on Half Moon Records? .. Much love & thanks, Ashley

12-(Dayna)- I heard something about some new Tom Moulton mixes coming out, Is this true?, something you can talk about?

(Tom Moulton)- The fellows who were responsible for talking me into doing the first album
with my name on it are feeling me out for the second one. They want to know what I have that’s new or was never issued. I do have a few surprises there. I was asked to remix the entire Brand New Heavies album and I am working on the 5 songs I didn't remix. Bobby Martin's album will come out this Spring and a new John Ellison album.
I would assume he would put his best material on this album"never heard anything bad from Tom" and Those songs sound like they apply..As far as asking him all those questions on a level of public information..I Think in a way it would be invasive at this point.
He told me what he wanted us to know for the time being,But I'm sure when he reads your intrest and knowledge on the subject of his work he will be flattered.

A DJ friend from the UK visited TM at his appartment last summer. During the conversation, when asked where all his vynil and reel-reel masters were TM stated that some of his so called friends have screwed him and taken almost all of them through the years. The Disco Holy Grail as a never relaesed TM mix is out there somewhere but more than likely we will never hear it.

Very nice interview....

Talking Re: Tom Moulton Interview Now Posted On Disco Music.com

Word to the wise:

Tom and I are friends and we speak on a regular basis!

His versions of songs are priceless!

As for what they sound like, "Let's Say That It Was Well Worth A Listen Or Two!"

That's, Real Talk!

An hour ago I bought a 1976 12" of Elton John called "Bite Your Lip Get Up And Dance", because it was a Tom Moulton Mix. I thought it would perhaps be some sort of disco version. Turned out to be regular rock so I threw it away. - So, Tom did rock remixes as well?!

The clips that can be heard of these Brand New Heavies tracks don't appeal to me AT ALL.
Now, what is Tom's involvement with this project? Is he a producer or just a REmixer, or "mixer" ot the stuff?
DId he chose to do this because he liked the material?`
Am I the only one who wishes he'd use his talent for more danceable, faster stuff, and not this slow funk stuff?
Hell, the BNH did a couple of great songs in the mid 90s but I just didn't like any of their later stuff at all.
