Just a question that was running around my head. Will it be the massive commercial artists or will artistic mastery shine through in the collective memory?

I'd probably say the mainstream artists that are remembered today 30 years on.

| Okay, we may hear "Ring my Bell", "Disco Duck" and alot of different artist and songs from the Disco Era from the 70's but one that I feel will stand out in the year 2058 is Ms. Donna Summer. Yes, we ALL talk about our favorites today from yesterday but what will our great grand children be asking and talking about? My very first hardcore sound of Disco came from Donna Summers Love Trilogy. While everyone was talking about the SNF and Bee Gee's sound (Which i liked) I was listening to Ms. Summers records. I remember seeing her on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson talking about her Live and More album. And when Bad Girls and On the Radio albums came out I was like well, a , well, I cant even explain it. Donna Summer was the most important Disco artist in our era. I know some will argue but that's cool. I really cant appreciate Love and Kisses or Diana Ross and Chic like i appreciate Donna. But i guess Chic will be # 2 on the list. I feel like Disco music will be probably be novelty songs in another 50 years but I feel Donnas music will stand up to time. (Minus Enough is Enough)

I think the Roots of Disco is what will still change hands for high sums and be regarded highly. 1)Chic and most of what they produced 2)Anything on Philly International like Jean Carne, Harold Melvin 3)Major artists on Salsoul like Skyy, First Choice, Double Exposure, Moment of Truth 4)Mtume produced boogie tracks like those for the Spinners, Stephanie Mills, and Phyllis Hyman 5)The major artists on Prelude like DTrain, France Joli, Sharon Redd, Gayle Adams, Unlimited Touch 6)major funk/R&B disco rosters on Polydor and Capital

This is what I meant. It'll be artist like Donna Summer, KC and The Sunshine Band, Village People, Giorgio Moroder, Bee Gees, Vicki Sue Robinson, etc - artists who managed to get their songs in the upper reaches of the music charts.
