Default Anyone Familiar with Cindy & Roy?

Hey all, got a question for you. I have an album from 1981 by two performers known as CINDY & ROY on the Casablanca label. The album features the following tracks:

1. I Wanna Testify - 9:35
2. While We Still Have Time - 4:40
3. Gotta Love Somebody Else - 4:10
4. Can You Feel It - 8:33
5. Changing Jobs - 9:25

Does anyone have any info on the two of them? Is this the only LP they made or did they make any follow ups to this? Were there any singles or 12 inch releases from this LP? I think I picked this up for something like $1.99 or thereabouts in the early 80's.

Cheers.

There was a 12" released from the album, but I don't think it had remixes, just the album versions. I don't believe there was any follow-up to this, as this came out around the time that disco became completely unmarketable, and Casablanca imploded.

Personally, I wasn't impressed with this album at all. I found it formulaic, tedious, and essentially "corporate disco".

there are two 12" singles from the LP.

first one: "can you feel it" 6:05
backed with "can you feel it" 8:40

second one: "can you feel it" remixed version 7:29
backed with "while we still have time" 3:59

2 of the few, if only Casablanca 12" singles that were not one-sided.

I kinda liked their cover of the Parliament song "I Wanna Testify", but the Parliament version is the BOMB!

I agree with TDK, I rather liked their version of "I Wanna Testify"... I don't recall it from BITD; I acquired it in recent years... not Essential but a "nice" record...

Being that I'm somewhat of a "slowjam" aficionado, I know them from the song "While We Still Have Time" which received sporatic airplay when it came out, but was a favorite during any "Quiet Storm" oriented show. It's definitely a favorite of mine.

My favourite track is 'Changing Jobs' partly 'cos I definitely relate to the lyrics about hating getting up for work but the music's OK too. Can't say it's a favourite of mine though; it becomes very boring after about 4 minutes; there are hundreds of better examples of late 70s disco.

I haven't listened to the album in years but if memory serves me correct, it wasn't a bad album. I'll have to dig it out one day and give it another listen.

The Casablanca album is from 1979 and not 1981.

I liked it but then again bought EVERYTHING that was on Casablanca.

Funny but when I recently ripped it to CD ; I made a few shorter edits of certain cuts [nothing fancy - trust me !!] and it only punches up the tracks.

Can you feel it and Changin' jobs were my 2 favorites.

They were friends with Peaches & Herb ; weren't they ?? At least they are thanked in the credits.

Wonder if they went to showbiz wife-swapping parties?

I also had this album but if I remember correct, it came out around 1979 not 1981...I might be wrong but I don't think so; my most favorite tracks on the vinyl were "Changing Jobs" and "Can You Feel It." To me it was a great album, certainly mainstream disco during that time.

It appears someone thinks Can You Feel It is worth it's weight in Gold or Platinum or something crazy like that!:

I'd swear it was a misprint, except for the .30 cents at the end.

Otherwise... To add to the thread...
Here's the release history of the LP, "FEEL IT" - NBLP 7159 (1979)
LP:
1. I Wanna Testify - 9:35
2. While We Still Have Time - 4:40
3. Gotta Love Somebody Else - 4:10
4. Can You Feel It - 8:33
5. Changing Jobs - 9:25

12":
NBD 20164
Can You Feel It - 8:40 (intro: :46) b/w Can You Feel It - 6:05
NBD 20187
Can You Feel It (Special Party Remix, B.P.M. 128) - 7:29 b/w While We Still Have Time - 3:59
NBD 20206
I Wanna Testify - 5:55 b/w Changin' Jobs - 7:26

The LP was written & produced (with the exception of "...Testify" & "While We Still...") by Walter Kahn, for Sunshine Group. (The Karen Young/"Hot Shot" guy)

The radio hit off the LP, at least in the NY area, was the ballad, "While We Still Have Time" And it was BIG! Much like the Captain & Tennille's "Make Your Move" LP for Casablanca, succeeding through the ballad "Do That To Me One More Time", and the down-tempo groove, "Never Make Your Move Too Soon". As opposed to the dance track "Happy Together (a fantasy)". (Though, honestly, that dance track was amazing! And years ahead of it's time!)

Hard to say if it's a misprint. If you browse the guy's catalog, you'd swear he was trying to raise enough capital in a short amount of time to buy a small country:

GEMM: The World's Largest Marketplace

I only recently learned about that 'party' remix of Can You Feel It. I was hoping that someone would have posted it on youtube so I could at least hear how it differed from the LP mix. Is there anything that stands out that anyone can recall, about this special remix? Probably a lot more percussion breaks? Acapella and drums sections? I'm very intrigued! :)
