I love "Ich Bin Wie Du" and "Marleen". There is a section from "Ich Bin Wie Du" which sounds so much like Yvonne Elliman's "Love Pains". What year was IBWD released?

The 7" of "Ich Bin Wie Du" was released in 1975.

Curiously, It became a hit much later (at least here) as it was promoted by a local radio station from Montreal which had a disco show from 5 to 7 pm on weekdays.

A bit later during the evening, they were playing only "slows" until midnight and that is where I've heard this song for the first time.

It's been played over and over for many years. Since then, I have never heard this song anymore.

That brings back memories!

"Ich Bin Wie Du" is still a classic over here, played at almost every party and in Germany it's massive and considered as THE gay anthem.

In 1998 it came back as "Disco Cop" by Blue Adonis.

This is one of Marianne's early tracks:

Marcus, I reported your post to Bernie as he uses a Mac. I don't get any Trojan warning at all when clicking the link, maybe he does too, so it's better to check this out.

Thx for notifying!

I don't get any warnings. Could be an overzealous program flagging ads as something else.

...Dunno.

for many months, my Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 never let any threat pass.

I'll keep my safe browsing habits until further notice.

Last minute post:

The same product (version 7.0) installed on another PC of mine do not report any warning about this site.

Sorry for the false alert but my rule is: "better safe than sorry" - especially considering the time involved in rebuilting a corrupted PC...

When I finally got to listen to the title posted by Videoskooter, I realized that the song from Marianne Rosenberg I knew had nothing to do with this one.

For that reason, anyone who would have also took the time to listen to the song and read my reply after, must have thought I was from a different planet.

It all started with the conviction that she had only one hit made. In reality I've listed at least a dozen of her albums.

The song I was thinking of was: Du bist heute da, wo vorher niemand war, a 10 minute slow, perfect for in intimate late dance at a club.

You gotta give it a listening test -> Youtube Link

This song was from the good old days when the girls were a bit more naive and romantic.

It's also on the trend of Three Times a Lady or Madleen Kane's You And I.

BTW I have no idea what this song talks about. I just hope it says something sweet because she is a real cutie!

Please someone tell me she's not reading a grocery list or talking about her last yeast infection...

LOL-

"It's good to talk to you, my love, to believe in you, to be able to reach out to you, what I feel for you, to love you is my life, you are here today, I can't believe you are here, you have made my day, you filled an empty space in my life, you are the beginning and the end, I wanna show you what I feel, you are the one that can hold me, not only today but for the rest of my life"

That pretty sums up the song, and yes, it's a beauty and I slowed a lot of times on that one. Pure class!

And Marcus, now that we are dancing so closely, I'll give you another monsterslow from my youth, my past and my present and that of a whole lot of Belgians, Germans and Dutch

Peter Maffay: "Du"

And now, you'll have to excuse me as I'm gonna dance with my beloved wife to both songs

How about this, both songs are sung life!!!

YouTube - Marianne Rosenberg - Marleen 1976

Sad song about her, singing about a very handsome girl, taking away Marianne's boyfriend, she asks her to go away and leave the boy to herself.....
"Marleen, one of us has to go.....""

( this should be "Ich Bin Wie Du" , but for some reason, it doesn't work....)

Another version:

The producers listened very good to Philadelphia International....!

1975 and 1976, German Disco!!

The two hits from the album were «Ich bin wie Du» and especially «Er gehört zu mir». This one is a real myth in Europe with lyrics like «He belongs to me like my name on the door... it's like the first time... it this real love?» and the best loved parts : «na na na na na na» and «oo oo oo» (type the song title on Youtube to see German boys lip-synching to it and you'll understand what I mean).

They were very big hits at the time. Both songs were awfully remixed in the 80's and the 90's and then nicely covered by Rosenberg herself in her 2004 album «Für immer wie heute» (there is an excellent 2-cd special edition of this album).
She covered Blondie's «Heart of glass» in 1979 («Herz aus Glas»). The same year she released «Sie ist kalt» a cold (as the title says) synth-driven Eurodisco song.

Rosenberg is not exactly a disco singer. The «Ich bin wie Du» album is very melodic but the songs are mostly ballads. I don't know why but it was released only in 1980 in Canada and Canadians copies are quite easy to find.

Album tracklist [Deutsche PHILIPS 6305 287, January 1976]:
SEITE 1: Ich bin wie Du, Liebe kann so weh tun, Er gehört zu Mir, Für immer wie heute, Abendwind
SEITE 2: Was kann ich tun, Du bist heute da wo vorher niemand war, Diese Nacht
