Robbie Leslie did the first 2 RtP events...April & October 2004

Then Jerry Bonham took over for the next 3 parties, Oct. 2005, 2006 & 2007.

Robbie's parties were good.....but Jerry Bonham's were FANTASTIC....he really put in that extra effort to painstakingly recreate the Trocadero "sound" and format/ program the evening to replicate the energy level as it was there back in the day....the musical choices are expert and the mixing is flawless--absolutely FLAWLESS....plus he did some great "reaching back" to the era prior to Troc's existence to include earlier dance classics from the 1973-1977 era ["Love Hangover/Cherchez la Femme/Ten Percent/The Love I Lost/More, More, More," etc.] that I never heard played at Troc...but sound so great in the mix of things...those are usually my fave parts.

So if you are going to purchase, start with JB's ...there are links in this thread for them on ebay I believe. Well worth the price, which is about half of what Robbie charges for his parties ($150), I do believe.

hmmm...can't find the link...someone will know....if I find it, I'll edit it in.....
So Marky are you following me? Lol that's good cause I need the company...but actually the first time I heard Jerry Bonham was on a Internet radio show www.live365.com at Disco 935 New York with DJ VJC. He plays the various CD's from "RTP's 30th Anniversary celebration of the Trocadero Transfer" and it blew me away I said to myself WOW, this sounds like the best mixing I ever heard. It sounds like Jerry was possessed that night to bringing back that Trocadero to the original days. Truly amazing set, I will be purchasing that CD box set real soon, and Marky you are right it is a steal compared to the $150.00 price tag of a couple of the other party's. Thanks again.

My opinion is that to Robbie Leslie the RtP party was another gig where he played professionally as always...to Jerry Bonham, it was a dream come true to play classic disco at Trocadero. JB really worked it out to the tiniest detail and has some really amazing mixes...the one that comes to mind is a real long-- like 2 minutes or so [I think]-- overlay of the end of Busta Jones' "Dancing All Over The World" into Voyage's "Souvenirs" [oops..wrong Voyage song...Keefe says it was "From East To West"]......really great mixing.

And on the last party, "Knock on Wood" is kept playing under the following song..so that the 3 "knock-knock-knock's" continually hit just at the right point well into the next song [ after checking: it's Peter Brown's "Can't Be Love-Do It To Me Anyway"]..I'll have to check the playlist...and many more fun things are in there.

Hi Chala! Sorry for the slow reply, I've been swamped at work because I'm trying to get stuff done before a business trip to your neck of the woods. Yay! A business trip I want to go on since we'll be in Manhattan in less than 2 weeks!! If things go as plan, I'll get to visit with a former infamous Troc DJ with the initials B.V.!

However, you are in good hands with Marky! Besides, it's always nice to read other people's comments about the RtP events.

Just a few comments to elaborate on what Marky told you. First off, Jerry Bonham has now helmed 4 Remember the Party events (hard to believe we've had 6 parties already, especially since we originally were only suppose to have 1!!!), "Soul Recharge," "Remember the Troc Party," "Remember the Party 5," and "RtP Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Trocadero Transfer." If you are interested in any of these sets, you can send an Email to alecmidney@yahoo.com to see if any are still available. I was in Medium Rare Music a couple of weeks ago and they only had a handful of the 30th Anniversary set available.

Jerry decided to price his sets at a reasonable rate (I think $50 for 10 hours of wonderfully mixed disco is pretty fantastic!) because he is doing his best to keep disco alive! He LOVES this era of music and he LOVES spinning at the RtPs (in case you couldn't tell).

He is already hard at work trying to decide what to spin for us in October, 2008 for RtP 7. We have a lovely theme all set for the next party. That's all I can say for now!

And Marky is correct that Mr. Bonham loves to tease us with those loooong overlays. Marky told you about his mix of Busta Jones into Voyage - actually it was "From East To West" - however the mixed from Cocomotion into Busta Jones was also quite spectacular. BTW, these songs were from the Remember the Party 5 set. Check out my YouTube page for a video clip.

You know what? There are at least two playlists from that night in this thread, plus I have the one from RYP web site and I don't see Busta Jones' "Dancing All Over The World" into "Voyage's From East To West" but I know that overlay isn't "Souvenirs" in there somewhere to? I dunno but it's not in the playlist.

Wow Bobby V isn't he still infamous?...lol...(only kidding) I would love to sit down with him and pick his brain on his days back then. I could talk to him for hours. A couple of months ago he gave me his number and I was scared to call cause I know I would of asked him a million questions and made his head explode, so I never did. If you catch up with him tell him I said hello he knows me as rlskychances (my e-mail addy) I bug him to death with e-mails, when he see's my e-mail in his box I know he shakes his head ::laughing:: tell him also I am gonna get that Bobby Viteritti 1979 Billboard Trocadero Billboard Tea Dance 5 CD Set soon.

Chala, did you watch this one?
YouTube - A 3rd moment from 2006's Trocadero Transfer disco party

And you might enjoy the 11 plus minutes cut on my MySpace page:
MySpaceTV Videos: Trocadero Transfer 30th Anniversary Event! by Keefe

Most of these clips were taken with my digital camera. That's why they are so short. However, now that I figured out how to get the footage from my camcorder over on YouTube or MySpace, I'll be able to show all of you better stuff!

BTW, I think Bobby V. loves to talk about the Troc days!

As for the RtP event coming this October (usually the Sunday of the Columbus Day weekend), you can sign up for the RtP mailing list on the www.remembertheparty.com website. We'll be sending out newletters to let people know when tickets are available online. Also, if you look towards the lower right corner, you'll find music clips are available for you to listen to from the last two RtP sets!
