It's a bit disorganised inside (I loved that coloured vinyl frontage too!) but very cheap!! (like me really )

Nah, unfortunately I wasn't...gave it a lot of thought but as there was the possibility of not being able to secure me a ticket and as the looong flight would have done me in, and as I only could take off for a long weekend I decided to pop to Barcelona instead. Must have been a sensational night...but Barcelona wasn't half bad, either, and it only took 3 hrs to get there!
Oh well, maybe next year, as I keep saying.

I was quite surprised how that long flight affected me more than in the past. (I do love S.F. though!) I've always wanted to go to Barcelona; also I'm hoping to make it to one of those fabulous-sounding nights in Paris that discolady does one of these days.

I don't know if I'm at liberty yet to reveal that there'll be a HUGE party in Paris the first weekend after new year. Total delirium tremesis disco until 6 in the morning, fuelled by a couple of...ahem..experts with diabolical ways of making you dance. You WILL dance to the Pretty Maid Company. Details will no doubt be posted here sooner or later. Book your Eurostar tickets and left bank hotel room now.

I can't afford the left bank; it's the gare du nord for me!

Sandy, we really appreciate you and so many others who took long journeys to SF to participate in our event. We really do!!

Here's Part Four of my recap.

Part Four

Jerry continued his musical welcome perfectly with Alphonse Mouzon’s “I’m Glad That You’re Here.” To let everyone know we meant business with this party, he followed with McFadden and Whitehead’s “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.” Everyone was soon to find that out!

But for now, as I was distributing bottles of water and mints, etc., to our staff working in various areas of the club, I noticed the dance floor was pretty much devoid of dancers during these opening numbers! I was surprised that Roberta and Donny didn’t immediately get people on the floor. However, as I entered the club’s lobby, I knew the reasons why. First, the lines to get into the party were long and slow moving. Our box office and door staff had to establish who were the invited guests to the 50th birthday party happening on the second floor (which had an open bar), who bought tickets online in advance and who were fortunate to be on our producers’ guest list.

Plus, the Glas Kat is normally used to dealing with a, shall we say, less mature crowd. Therefore, in order to insure the safety of their patrons, they have it their policy to “pat down” all people before entering the club. They had to continue this policy with this event. Since only one friendly lady was doing the searches, people were trickling in to the party at a reduced pace!

Then, this year the lobby looked like an extension of the Castro Street Fair, which happened earlier in the day. Not only did you have folks trying to check their coats, but you had others in line to get their first cocktails. You had people waiting to get pearls from the Under One Roof table and cookies from another table. Legendary DJ Lary Sanders had a table to introduce people to his MorningStar subscription series of remix CDs, which raises funds for charities, as well as flyers for former Trocadero Transfer DJ, Bobby Viteritti’s new online store (with sets from Troc’s heyday). Others could get their cards read by the wonderfully classy Avis Marie, who was a Troc regular. We also had a limited number of Troc 30th Anniversary t-shirts for sale.

Added to all that, you had people excitedly greeting and hugging friends, many they haven’t seen for awhile. It was easier to talk in the lobby than in the main room!

I reentered the dancefloor area as Jerry continued his wind up set moving into a sexier scene with Sharon Redd asking, “Can you handle it? Ain’t nothing like it!” Then moving to Billy Frazier’s friends describing “Billy Who?” Jerry made sure he included that part where the girls were singing about the contents of Billy’s pants! At this point, I was chatting with RadioioDisco’s host and journalist extraordinaire, Barry Walters. This song inspired him to head out to the dancefloor. Like the Pied Piper, others followed Barry onto the dancefloor. We would not see the dancefloor empty again until 4 am when the club closed!

Also at this time, I noticed the lighting effects on the mirror ball cluster did not appear as brilliant on one side as earlier. As I brought bottles of water to Bobby M., who was working the arc lamp on the side of the room opposite the DJ booth and next to the stage, I noticed that he was holding a colored gel in front of the arc lamp beam. I thought that was odd as I heard Bobby calling me! Bobby told me that the gels fell out of the frames holding them within the arc lamp and to go get help!

Panicking, I ran over to Carla and Chris, who were operating the other two arc lamps. They quickly suggested he just shut down and try to fix the gels and they would do their best to cover him. Running back, I gave Bobby their suggestion but he was starting to panic as bad as myself and he asked me to ask Carla and Chris something else. Of course, at this time, the dance floor was starting to fill up as Jerry was ramping the party up with the break from Ish’s “Don’t Stop.” This break has the synths going full speed ahead like a rocket ship ready to take off (appropriate for this set of sexy songs! ). I had to twist my way over to Chris to try to get his attention. Worried that I would disturb him as he was creating his lighting artwork on the mirror balls, I saw our other producer, Richard, helping Bobby repair the arc lamp! “Can’t Fake The Feeling” was playing and I couldn’t fake the feeling of relief I felt!

For those of you who may be interested, I was just told yesterday, October 3, 2007, that the CD sets of the soundtrack to this event were just finished! Medium Rare Music should have them by next weekend (maybe earlier) if all goes as plans. Medium Rare has a new Email address: mediumraremusic1@aol.com . You can also inquire about the soundtrack by emailing alecmidney@yahoo.com .

The soundtrack is EIGHT CDs and a marathon of TEN hours of music! This year the CDs are packaged in a nice sturdy multi-disc DVD case. I love the artwork on the case - beautiful photos shot during the evening. And wait until you hear Jerry Bonham's magic!!!

I've just received my package from the USofA and I'm wetting myself with excitement - at the packaging and presentation of this 8 CD set!!!!!!! It is brilliant and I just can't let it go long enough to open the box and play the first CD.

What a well presented and packaged box set. I liked last year's tin, but this year's package is awesome.

Right, I'm off to play the fullset and as it is 8:40pm UK time, I guess I'll not get any sleep until 6 or 7 am tomorrow - OK I'll maybe stop at 1:00am and go to bed, then load more CDs in the morning.

Ooooooohhhh I'm so excited, but I guess you can tell from the words and enthusiasm in this post!!!!! Thanks Guys. xxxxx

OK couldn't resist another post tonight. Couldn't wait until 3:00am for CD 6, so I started with it and went straight to Voggue's 'Dancing The Night Away' as it is one of my favourite dance tracks ever - only bettered by Chic's 'I Want Your Love'.

This rocks - I thought I was only getting the last seconds of the track, but the end is mixed into the beginning/middle and it works wonders!!!! What a pleasant surprise!!! I'm wetting myself with excitement yet again. Voggue has just segued into Change's 'Searching' and then into Sharon Redd's 'In the name of love' !!!!! I can't take any more excitement tonight and I'm going to have to go for a lie down!!!!!!

Everyone out there - go get a set of these disks - you will not be disappointed!!!!! UK residents - the pound buys you 2 dollars, so the 56 dollar price tag equals 28 pounds!!! For 8 CDs and 10 hours of dance music, that's 2 pounds 80 per hour. This is the best 28 quid I have spent in ages!!!!

Why Christmas, Remicks? Jerry is mailing them out now, payable through paypal and delivered within 7 days to the UK - probably quicker in the USA.

Strangely enough, it was at about this point in the evening that I started to get really knackered!

Sandy, you'll be happy to know you seemed fine when I finally met you about 8 songs later!

Hey everyone, just returned from being gone for a business trip all this week, so I'm going to be a little late with the next chapter of my recap. Sorry about that!

In the meantime, Medium Rare Music definitely has the CD sets now. They are selling for the same price as last year's RtP 5 soundtrack, $49.99 with $7.00 shipping and handling within the United States. Something that doesn't happen very much anymore - getting more for your money in the present rather than in the past! I like it! I was told they've already shipped out quite a few of this initial shipment for preorders. Again, their new Email is mediumraremusic1@aol.com and their phone number is (415) 255-7273.
