Does any know of any Spanish Disco Artists (from Spain)? The only artist I know of is Bacarra, which I enjoy listening to. I know there must be more disco artists from Spain.. Can anyone name some other disco artists from Spain that were popular during the 1970's? Thanks for any help you can give.

The better known group to US Discos was Barrabas. "Wild Safari" and "Woman" ('72) were part of all Discos playlist in the early 70's, this cuts were still popular at many Discos into '75 and '76. Barrabas also had other 70's club hits like "Highjack" and others, and in the 80's they came back with "San Valentine" and "on the road again" A classic Band in my book.

I know about Barrabas and Charo.. but they are both American artists...who happened to have Spanish ancestry.... There must have been more disco artists in Spain than just Baccara....

Seems that 70's Spanish disco was very thin on the ground Although these seemed to be popular YouTube - LAS GRECAS - ANABALINA YouTube - LAS GRECAS - QUE BONITO AQUELLA NOCHE If this is what was around it is pretty understandable why they were so proud of Baccara. LOL

Not really a Spanish artist (as he was from Italy i think) but a great Spanish discohit (sung in Spanish as well): Lucio Battisti - El Velero (1976). YouTube - Lucio Battisti - El Velero (12") (Disco 1976). Cheers.

Barrabas was an Spanish Group from Spain!!! based in , Madrid Spain, with members from Spain (and one Cuban exile -- Ernesto Duarte -Percussionist -- added to the mix for that true Latin conga flavor Barrabas was a Spanish group formed in the early '70s When I first discovered Barrabas back in my HS days, I already knew they were Spanish, even before I was able to afford their first LP that plainly describes Barrabas in the cover as a " Spanish Rock" group. And Charo, Spanish spitfire Charo is instantly recognizable with her big blonde hair |
