Default Giorgio Moroder Forever Dancing

I've recently been rediscovering my Moroder collection--I got into disco in the very late 90s thru a love of Donna Summer and quickly then went from Donna Summer to buying everything produced by Moroder I could on vinyl and CD... Although I avoided most of his post 1985-86 era I do have the major pieces since then...

There are some albusm Ir eally dont' care for (the third Munich Machine, Body Shine is a huge disappointment to me and from reading the credits I doubt he had much involvement at all for instance) and as the 80s went on he got cheasier and cheasier although I love the Irene Cara album, Phil Oakey, Neverending Story, even Take My Breath Away...

Anyway I never really paid much attention to his 1992 mixed CD Forever Dancing after buying it... For those who don't know, it's a 40 minute mix of 19 tracks, a good half are covers of old disco hits (some would say overplayed hits) and the others are original. The main point of this compilation was it marked his reteaming with Donna Summer on Carry On, a track that, while far from perfect, I have a lot of affection for.

Otherwise the rest sounded liek a mess to me--all the things I hated about early 90s euro dance music with none of what I loved about Moroder's disco, or early 80s dance music. However recently Igave it a few more listens--it's still hardly a classic, but actually some of the new tunes, if theyhad been done in more of an older disco style coulda been on the Three Degrees albums he did--and there are some things on here to recommend it....

What do other Moroder fans think of it?

Well Eric ; you know I'm a huge Giorgio fan and...
I never bothered picking it up.

I saw it in stores...and the titles and the amount of songs all crammed into the medleys made me hesitate.
But I needed to get the DONNA duet [In case you didn't know - I'm a fan...Wait YOU KNOW THAT!!] so when I saw the import CD5 with the extended CARRY ON and the instrumental ; I just bought that instead.

Can't say that I'm attracted to that album at all...although if I listened to it I could very well like it.

But it's been described as quite a letdown by many people we both know !!

Well it is. But I actually like many of the new songs--just would like to see them in an earlier Moroder style... However you like Almighty mixes don't you? this isn't all that diff in a way... VERY hi NRG. Carry On has a relatively low BPM in comparison

You like Donna Summer? What an odd coincidence...
