So what is your favorite Prince cover or song written by Prince for another artist (i asked the question in the thread above, but it warrants its own thread?

Didn't hear the whole list... but for me the definitive Prince-for-hire track is, hands down, "Manic Monday" for The Bangles.

my fave, BY FAR...

"Love...Thy Will Be Done" by Martika...shoulda been huge...languid, slow beat, rising in intensity as song goes on to an almost religious experience...
and Martika's HOT, to boot!!

I've always heard MANIC MONDAY as a lite weight pop novelty song ... but now I listened to it anew ....NOT SO BAD !!

So now I've decided its off to our fair to see The Bangles perform on a free stage ! ....what the hell ....

Too bad it's a slowed down version of "1999" or as you wish an accoustic version of the apocalyptic purplejam!

Can I as a Prince devotee just turn the stone (just in this reply) and give my favourite Prince song when He (and he almost never does that on his albums) did a cover of somebody else's song

.... thought the same thing ... maybe he was dreaming when he wrote it .............as well .... just slower .... so sue me if I go too slow ... !!!

Skooter ...just listened to that BETCHA BY GOLLY (but not so) WOW rendition ....er.....well I found the kazoo sound behind the line about a falling star entertaining ...... hmm. ....Prince doing standards ....lets just say he's no Rod Stewart .....
