It appears Carrie Lucas on her 1st album in 1977 "Simply Carrie" has "I gotta keep dancin' "
and a remix of this song was made in 1980 from same artist, title is known as: "Keep smilin' " on her 1980 album "Portrait of Carrie".

Does anyone know how different the original is from the 80 version ?

The other version has been released in 1979 is totally new
remixed...with a nice NRG-line and more thumping beat.
I like both versions.

The remixed version is more club friendly with longer time, dj-friendly intro and exit and better breaks. And since the basic melody is intact, like Spacer says, you don't notice the differences right away.

This is a good example of what a lot of us talked about in other threads about today's remixing (i.e., deconstruction) vs. back-in-the-day, which was more about enhancement of what you got.

Yes, a little too often. I mean, it's not bad, but there's really nothing that distinguishes it from the Barbara Lewis classic. Carrie's version still gets a good amount of radio play, even on some of the so-called "smooth jazz" stations. What this has to do with jazz escapes me. :-?
