Default Quartz

I have an old 8 track called "Quartz - Camel in the City"
Ive had it for many years now and always enjoyed it.
Its very weird and unique, but very enjoyable.
Which one of you guys have Quartz albums?
How many did they release?
Are they hard to find?
Do you know anything about the artist(s)?
Any other info.?

Just curious about this mysterious album.

I have their first album. The track "Beyond the clouds" is good and you can also find it on this CD, http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/937_0_3_0_C/

The rest of the album is not worth the time to listen to.

You made me curious about the second album. Anyone who got them both and can make a comparison?

(According to another site they released just 2 albums)

In my opinion, "Beyond The Clouds" is shadowed by the colossal album side long name track "Quartz", thoughtfully designed with alternating degrees of rising intensity so that the participants can comfortably maintain the pumped up voodoo ritual tremesis till the end. I believe the singers are performing something like the Ennio Morricone-penned Afro-Flemish mass heard and seen in John Boorman's underrated "EXORCIST 2 THE HERETIC", but who or what are they summoning up? Images of the demon Pazuzu flash in the mirror ball, turn your eyes away from his massive stone erection. "Quartz" is one of those great tunes that works better today than it did when it came out.

I think the Quartz track in some parts sounds amateurish and .... silly, but through a BIG sound system and fully loaded with drugs maybe I could appreciate it.

Beyond the clouds is more "consistent"

I guess Voodoo chanting isn't my thing

I ordered the second album yesterday just out of curiosity.

Is that the Quartz album that had large quartz crystals on the cover with a little baby or child in the midst of them? And yes it sounds tribalist, but the beat is good and steady, with a woman coming in and ad libbing the hell out of her vocals; if this is the same album, I always liked it and played it quite a bit.

That's the album. And like Noman wrote, it really does deliver thru big speakers when spinned now.

By the way, that album is extremely hard to find, whethe vinyl or CD, so if anyone knows where I can get a CD copy, hit me on it.
