Default Yet another Alec R. Costandinos thread: "Trocadero Lemon Blue": French or English?

I'm not a Costandinos fan at all. Part because I don't really know his work, part because I don't like what I know...

Well, to be true, I like the Paris Connection LP, and I just discovered he was behind that project. On the strength of that discovery, and all the praise given to his work on these boards, I've decided to correct my ignorance and go ahead and fetch "Romeo & Juliet", and "Trocadero Lemon Blue", to be able to judge by what many deem his greatest work.

I've heard there are 2 versions of the "Trocadero" LP, one in English, presumably the most widespread one (on Casablanca), and another in French: Trocadero Bleu Citron, the Canadian RCA pressing.

Has anyone heard both? Does one come out as better? I suppose the vocals were simply laid over the same recorded instrumental tracks, not part of a wholly different recording session, so I don't expect different arrangements. Am I right in thinking so?

And finally, could someone recommend other Alec R. Costandinos works close to the spirit of "Paris Connection?

In advance, thanks for your input...

It's only one song that differs, and that's the title track. And yes, the US Casablanca is in English, while the Canadian RCA is in French, and presumably copies from Europe would be as well. I seem to recall that the French version wasn't sung by Costandinos, but I can't remember the details.

...And of the 2 versions of that particular track, is one regarded as better?

I'll probably go fot the US version, unless voices (or fingers on keyboards) rise to point out a definite preference for Shake's delivery....
