| Hey The topic of this forum is intended as a point of entry into a general discussion of drugs and disco. So, we could talk about disco trax that are drugged out, times that you've listened to disco drugged out, or perhaps debate whether being drugged out (on whatever substance) enhances the experience of aurally consuming disco or whether disco is best consumed straight. The track that got me thinking about this is "Chicago" by Roy Ayers, which is on his Lots of Love LP (1983) on Uno Melodic. It is a really heavy drugged out piece of disco. Yours in friendship and disco music The Boogie Doctor |

| Personally drugs of the recreational kind don't have a part in my life and they never have, i don't drink iether, the vice i had was smoking 20 marlboro a a day, i was ostisized from my friends at the clubs for not doing what they did, but i am now in my mid 30s better lookin than they are, mentqally bright and sharpe with an exceptional memory and i have a ll theat i need. disco is best heard in "real" life with no drugs because nothing can prepare you for the real pwerful stimulation you sahll recieve on a disco track that bends your mind and body with out "help" any way drug taking is for the lack of other things in peoples lives lets face it i know none of us a perfect!. but drugs no not unless youre doctor prescibes them lol.... |

Now, to answer the good doctor's question: I never did drugs so I never experienced listening to Disco or other music while being under influence. I think the trippers are vastly overrating that experience. I remember George Martin (the famous producer) once say: I don't think drugs were a benefit for the Beatles, I even think that without the LSD they would have made even better records. IMO that sums it up! Drugs suck, period! They don't give advantage, they simply ruïn your brain (proven fact). Every zip of alcohol kills an amount of braincells, and they don't regenerate! And after a while you start thinking that Madleen Kane is Marc Cerrone wearing a blonde wig!!!! I don't wanna go in that phase!!!! But explain to me what a drugged out record is, please. I'm not familiar with that description. I'm Belgian, we get high on fries |

| well, to me a 'drugged out' record is one that clearly manifests either the consumption of drugs in its production or that is directly targeted at dancers who are high; thus what I mean by the term is a 'druggy' aesthetic, basically a track that sounds pretty 'out there,' or 'twisted.' "Chicago" by Roy Ayers is a good example. |

| Well mr scooter!, i believe your flirting with me lol, now whatwould you're Nicole say if she knew you wanted to marry a disco chic?....but yes i guess when were married well just have to get high on donna summer and some fizzy pop! i get what he boogie doctor is saying but i think it is all subjective and we all have a way or a model of how the world is to each and every indivivdual. i would say some sylvester tracks fit the remit, but i still wouldnt take a drug to get the effect it could have on me i dont even accept drinks from strangers, the last time i was in a night club was in 1998 i stopped because of drugs and vicious people i was also beaten by a bouncer for asking him to intervene in a horrible druggy fight betwwen two people i never even knew and i got liftedof the ground by this BIG man! and head butted in the skull and pubched in the stomach, it turned out that this lovely man who was paid for the privelage of looking after the patrons was in fact himself! high on drugs..... i never went out to a club again and i never shall because drugs are too much a parto f a destructive pattern in night clubs, i'd rather cook a meal put on some marsha ravenand chat to a friend all night long....... |

There's an inference being made there that I DO NOT APPRECIATE AT ALL As far as that Madleen Kane thread goes ...... I clearly had the name Cerrone in quotes ... implying I felt the music being discussed was of a "Cerrone" style ..... meaning that I felt that the Kane album perhaps had taken the "Cerrone" sound and elevated it in an even grander way than Cerrone himself. . Anyone that took it literally ... is missing a few brain cells themselves ......

| Okay.....Sorry but when i was really young like 22 years old i had smoked a little something. i remember putting on Donna Summers Trilogy on the turn table with headphones and just floated away with it. I heard bells and moans i would've never heard before. I kept picking up the needle on the turntable and playing parts over and over. Dont look down on me, that was just the way it was for me. AND YES, I still look good and still like to dance though the smoke has been out of my life for over 20 years........... |

So you finally realised that it was a joke that a guy called Remicks surely had to understand. Sometimes you have a very sarcastic way of posting too, so IMO, I thought you could handle this one!! BTW your name was not mentioned in the reply. Re-read your own thread about Kane and Cerrone and you'll notice that you're overdoing it there! That's what the joke was about and I'm sure everybody (the incrowd) got it, mmmh! OK, now you made the connection in this thread. Thereza, Quinny wasn't in this topic so there was no need to insult him and there never is a reason to insult people on the board. If you hate somebody's posts, just use the ignore list. I never do but it's there if you want to use it! Pepper1dancer, I don't look down on you my friend, you had some experiments and I'm not judging them. I only have a major problem with drugs, I've seen a few close people getting destroyed by 'em. There's a lot of people who take it a few times out of curiosity and then quit. But there's a whole lot that can't stop anymore and go for harder and harder stuff. That's always the problem with psychotropic substances. Like the Boogie Doctor explains: there are records aimed at drug users and of course many recordings were made under the influence. Wasn't the early Pink Floyd a non-Disco example! What did it do to Syd Barett? Would they have made such legendary recordings BITD when they would have been sober all the time? We'll probably never know. Remember the quote by George Martin that I already gave! Maybe we should continue debating this instead of hitting each other! |

| Thereza, This is completely uncalled for behavior. Although you are a new member and we welcome your participation, being insulting and rude is not allowed here and will not be tolerated. I expect you to do the right thing and apologize to Quinny and Remicks whom you insulted in your tirade. Quote:

| see how much destruction drugs have caused in this thread, (without even being consumed Geez people, Take a chill pill, no....wait...Don't do that Take a deep breath, it's just text. Me, I'm proud to say, have never had the urge to try any drugs, and except for the occassional alcoholic beverage at a club or social function, never felt the need to keep up with my friends or associates when it moved from wine coolers to marajuana, etc. Hell, I've never even smoked a cigarette before, despite having parents that smoked. But, I'd be lying if I said I didn't think that being under the influence doesn't impact a person creatively, I've written song lyrics and DJ'ed while a little tipsy before and did a good job, but this was the exception not the rule for me Though I doubt very seriously if I could draw well while my head was swirling, I honestly get a huge rush from spinning a song I like, listening to a track I've composed or viewing a drawing I've finished, more than any drug would give me. Creativity is better than sex......
