Default "Love in 'C' minor" in MONO

I found this old relic and since a while back there was discussion on Mono 12" recordings..

I actually don’t remember this record ever playing on the Radio, especially on AM , (but apparently it was) , If I recall correctly by 1977 FM radio was already well established.

Ps: Hey Video, I know Cerrone is your fave, this one sounds great mono on headphones!!

Personally I don't care for MONO when listening on headphones, BUT belt out the same track over a loud P.A. system and I'm as happy as a hooker with a $10000 trick.

Q, are you talking about MONO in general or do you really mean that you like to pump "Love In c Minor" in public

Mix, I'd love to take that experience but I never saw this release on Cotillon and it's not available in the vinylstores here. Maybe 1 day. I let you know!

Here is another "Love in a 'C' minor" by The Heart and soul Orchestra in mono, Casablanca released a bunch of this double A sided 7" promos.

No big deal if you never find it anyways, Stereo on Headphones sounds fine with me too.

This promos 7" with mono version are probably interesting today to collectors that want to own all samples of specific Artists , songs, whatever, most of this 7" on Casablanca I own are 'mint' since they have never been played, as by this time 12" was king.

I think years ago Remicks (I think) asked me if they still distributed 7" vinyl in the record pools in the late 70's, I found a Promo copy of "Walk away" by Donna Summer from 1979, it has a mono version too.

Casablanca sure spent a lot on Promotion, I wonder how many of this unique Promos they pressed for release?? ......the retail versions with the same catalog number were a different pressing.

I have Love In C Minor on 7" ... it actually has a nice edit. However it isn't mono... (Cerrone)

The Heart & Soul version is also another edit worth listening to if you don't have time for the epic.

Cerrone's retail Cotillion 7" also carries the same Cat # as the promo, but with Part II on the flip,
This is not the extended sexy chants they speak about in the Euro LP version is it??? ( I don't have my US Lp with me to compare)

PS: I checked Gemm, some of this Mono/promos are selling for 25 USD

I actually like this version much better today (both 12" and 7"), at the time I hardly paid any attention. I has a more 'Laid back' sound to it better suited for 'listening' only, IMO of course by the way, I just noticed this song was not part of Frankie's LP only on 12"...

I also checked Gemm and I see only one Mono/Promo copy there, could this be that rare??? Maybe I'll start something here

I've had a chance to compare the 7" with my original US Album release and both of this versions contain the initial sexy opening dialogue by the three women, only on the 7" version the "Look at Him" "Ohh that big size" " I saw him first" etc portion was cut out.

If -- as the vault entry here describes -- there is a different (edited) version of this album without the Dialogue that was released in America on the WB/Cotillion label, this must be a revised 'second pressing' because my LP copy (with four hands cover) contains the 'banter' in it's full length as far as I know.(I do not own the UK LP)

Since my LP copy is the same length (14:57) and catalog number (SD 9913) as the copy in the vault, maybe Bernie can double check his copy for us to make sure.

After all this years it would be interesting to find out if Warner/Cotillion was editing the music for "content" even back then..

PS: Or maybe the 'Dialogue" is even longer on Cerrone's uncensored UK Album ??

It is.

There's about two minutes of nothing but dialogue which precedes the start of the song, and the song makes a lot more sense with it. This was eliminated on the US copy (same thing as Love & Kisses "Accidental Lover"). It starts off with the ladies out drinking champagne, gossiping, and laughing: ("Who shall we talk about now?" "You.") Then they see Cerrone and are taken aback by his, um, package. They talk about all five of them sharing him at once. One of them decides to "make a move" and then the kick drum and strings start. That's the point where the US version begins.

Canadian copies on Cotillion used the American "four hands" sleeve, but included the full intro.

The Unidisc CD has the intro, but it came from a different source than the rest of song. It's very muffled and hissy -- probably from cassette -- and was obviously tacked on in an attempt to restore the piece, although it misses the "Well, you're on for tonight" phrase that comes just before the music starts.

The Malligator CD, which is the current issue in the US is *the* version to get. The original cover (although not all of the back photos), the full dialogue, and good sound all the way through.

Thanks Graham, now I finally understand exactly, I've never ever heard this two minute dialog intro before I always thought you guys were referring to the 'dialogue' portion available in the US LP and that some how this section was cut off in some issues.

Then I'll add this CD to my want list that keeps on growing

PS: Oh yes, I never before heard the "Accidental Lover" dialogue either, but that was taken care of a while back.
