Discussion on Deniece Williams - Free 12" within the Disco Music of the 70s and 80s forums, part of the General Music Discussions at DiscoMusic.com category; I was just wondering if anyone knows if this was re-released on the original Columbia records label in 1982....

According to the sleeve label on the CBS "Mixmaster" series releases, "Free" was part of this '89 re-issue series appearing on the flip side of "Let's hear it for the boys" 12" (44H8185). I don't have this re-issue so I don't know the exact length, but all the others I own are extended versions, "including many extended mixes never released commercially until now".

here is a scan of the CBS re-issue list...

Hi Mixmachine, thanks for that! The 'B' Side is 'It's Important To Me', which was on the original 1976 release. The reason for the question is that I have just bought it off the web (from a reputable company) in the UK. The date of release was specified as 1982 & I suspect that this might be an error or that I have bought a bootleg. Alternatively it could be a copy of the rare original, bought for a really good price....can't wait to see (and hear it!)
