| What' s the general consensus on the Star Wars themes by Meco and Boris Midney? Are they taken serious? Did people actually dance to these theme songs? Personally, I love them both and am still undecided which version I prefer as both are really cool. Maybe it's just that I loved the films (I have all of them on video and DVD) so I'd like to know your opinions.

| Did people actually dance to Meco's "Theme From Star Wars"? You bet your groove thing they did. The 45 was a decent sales chart pop hit the world over while the album version was very, very big in clubs. As for the quite different but imo far more interesting Midney version, that was not so popular, as iot arrived to the scene when orchestral records were no longer en vogue. |

| ***** In my opinion Meco's STAR WARS was best encapsulated in its' nicely compacted 45 version , with the playful Cantina Band segment giving it its most appeal . I haven't listened to Boris' version * in decades , but I remember not being all that interested ...... ......I'll dig it up Time to give in another go Funny how the whole space/disco thing seemed to coincide in a fitting way .... must have something to do with playing under the night sky into the wee hours , the celestial ambiance of lasers and flashing lights overhead .... the music boldly going where no man had gone before ..... ****** * Didn't Boris only cover THE EMPIRE STRKES BACK & not the original? *****

I think it was just timing. Space-themed movies like Star Wars and Close Encounters were huge at the time and there was a much greater interest in sci-fi then compared to today. |
