| "Well, what do you think about THIS!?" they said at the vinyl store and whipped out "28 After", a new-ish album by none other than Black Devil Disco Club, a cult act if there ever was one. Apparently at least in part by the original guys, the sound of the record - out both on vinyl and as a cd - captures the late 70's space disco sound like nothing since, forget about Lindström. Unless the thing is actually some unrealesed B.D.D.C tracks from the vaults, that is. There are 6 tracks, A: The Devil In Us, On Just Foot, Coach Me, and B: I Regret The Flower Power, Constantly No Respect and An Other Skin, all sounding exactly they should, down to the dirty synths, galloping gongas and sleazy vocoder voices. Love it. But is it real, does anyone know for certain? |

| Recently, I've been wondering about whis whole Black Devil Disco Club thing too.. I downloaded "28 After" last week.. Some way cool stuff! Standouts for me are "I Regret The Flower Power" and "Constantly No Respect." If "28 After" is unreleased material from back in the day, then it must have been remixed or something, there are elements in it that just sound way too contemporary to me.. I have to admit, I'm pretty fascinated with the whole enigma/mystery surrounding Black Devil Disco Club. It's kind of odd how this cult following has spread and that all of the sudden a follow-up album shows up nearly 30 years later.. Initially I had thought the original Black Devil album was some kind of clever, elaborate underground hoax.. Although I'm now convinced that it's not, after looking at the album/label photos at discogs and elsewhere.. Either way, both albums are completely out of this world.. | This is what it says on the BBc website: Originally released in 1978 and reissued by the Rephlex imprint in 2004, the first mini-album by this French duo was a masterpiece of baroque, rippling electronic disco. This comically delayed follow-up is less a sequel and more a companion piece. With their beautifully executed moments of glitterball decadence and high analogue drama, all six tracks here could easily have featured on that mythical original release. If you’re planning on filling a yacht with supermodels and heading out to St Tropez anytime soon, you’ll not find a more fitting soundtrack than this. Another site says this: With a sinister, psychedelic analogue synth sound which recalls both Joy Division and Giorgio Moroder, studio project Black Devil Disco Club was at one time believed to be the work of a mischievous collaboration between Luke Vibert and Aphex Twin. Common wisdom, however, ascribes the mysterious project to one Bernard Fevre, a French producer active in the 1970s whose work has been sampled by The Chemical Brothers. Not MY cup of Disco tea at all, but I could see some freaks diggin' it. |

| Jussi i got the LP about a month ago, and i'm probably not adding anything new here to the post, but from what i understand it is a new LP, that came about because of all the interest in the original release. even back then the Black Devil LP was extremely obscure, the new one certainly keeps the same vibe of the original.
