No need to re-do a disco classic in a House stylee, when you can pick up a copy of Bob Sinclar III and have funky filtered French disco Vs house on tap

But if you twist my arm I'd say put some more bass into Tony Cook & The Party People - On The Floor (Rock It), lose the "hamster" oohs & arrhs and replace with a 303

There's been some mighty fine remakes actually, he says, thinking of Todd Terry's Weekend & Keep On Jumpin or Stars on 54 - If You could Read My Mind.

And not forgetting the beefed up remix of First Choice - Let No Man.....which was just awesome

Favourite cover version anyone?

Saint Esmerelda - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood?
Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Musta Sent You?
Thelma Houston - Don't Leave Me This Way?
Gloria Gaynor - Never Can Say Goodbye?

??

Paulo,

Yes indeed, Danny Krivit and Dimitri always showcase some exeptional taste
in music selection. However, in virtually all clubs here where I came from, it is
almost impossible to hear anything under 128 Bpm, and all production is very
"electronic" - copy paste - looped shit. Of course it is generation issue also.
Krivit and Dimitri together with some other boys are members of so called
"old school" and theirs music knowledge surpasses that of most young Dee -Jays. Whenever I play, I always mix old classics with newer music ( call it House if you will...), but as the time goes by, I find it increasingly difficult to appeal to younger crowd. They expect from D.J. to play "hard" agressive dance music, without any vocals, without soul... They don't care and are not interested in "classics" or whatever. Sad. Recently I have been in club listening to some young D.J. playing what is called " Electro" - mostly
80's electro funk sounds "stolen" and used in some new arrangements...
O my, o my... What is this ??? Mostly basslines with beat and nothing on the top. Very fast, very mechanic, soulless, monotonic...
Yes, there are some good music still produced, but the amount of shit is much bigger and the latter is somehow become a "standard" for modern "trendy" production.

That's probably happening around the world. The same thing happened here:

Rock night-clubs (like Bunker) only play 90's and 2000's indie-rock.

Cheaper commercial popular venues for the masses play only brazilian samba (pagode) and lots of brazilian hip-hop.

Cheaper gay night-clubs also play pagode and the awful brazilian rap... but even in these days, they still play the latest euro-dance tracks. But euro-dance is considered cheap, commercial, shallow, silly and cheesy... and... to speak frankly... indeed it is.

More expensive gay clubs (like Le Boy) play what you called electronic-copy-paste-looped-shit with basslines and beat and nothing on the top. Fast, mechanic, hard, agressive, soulless.

I heard a CD of this... one of the ''songs'' played for about 10 minutes in just one chord. It was E minor without any chord sequence change. Lots of noises, whispered voices and effects in the backgroud. Awful!

Trendy straight night clubs play a little bit of this, plus indie rock, and also this ''new'' kind of dance-music... I really don't know what it is called... but it sounds a lot like 80's euro-disco: the sensation is the recent Madonna tracks (Jump, Sorry, Get Together), plus Scisor Sisters, Killie Minogue and even some new Pet Shop Boys tracks too... the Pets also jumped in this trend, which is (in fact) very much their area.

NO HOUSE MUSIC IS PLAYED ANYMORE ANYWHERE. But IMO there's still good HOUSE tracks being produced. The Danny Krivit Defected In The House is a proof... the songs are from 2004/05/06... I don't understand why no one's interested anymore and prefer to hear crap.

I don't mean to offend anyone's musical taste but....
2000's POP is CRAP
2000's DANCE is CRAP
2000's ROCK is CRAP
2000's R&B is CRAP
2000's HIP-HOP is CRAP

Oh boy... let me play the 1977 Cocomotion album for the nth time.

Out shortly is a House version of an old Italian House track. By the Houzecrushers "Touch Me" is a cover version of the 49ers oldie which in turn sampled Ecstacy, Passion & Pain.
