Default First Choice Double Crossed?

Hi folks, first off, happy holidays!

This is my first post, though I've been following for awhile, have finally decided to join the disco groove!

Here's a question > I found First Choice - Double Cross on Gold Mind in a shop in Hamburg while on holiday, it's marked GG404DJ, both sides are Double Cross with the same timing. I've checked online but can't seem to find it listed.

Anyone come across this before?

Hi Kentan and Welcome. The vinyl you're looking at is the 12" promotional copy for DJs. I have the same one, dated 1979, running 6:59. There is also a promo 12" with cat # CD 405 DJ. This has the 'A' side remixed by Bobby "DJ" Guttadaro at 7:43, with the 'B' side the same as the previous.

Welcome aboard Kentan,

I too have a copy of First Choice “Double Cross” GG 404 (DJ) the mix from this 12 inch seems to have been re-mastered and appears on the 12 inch B sides of First Choice “Double Cross” GG 405 (DJ) and the GG 405 commercial release.
The GG 405 also has a Bobby “DJ” Guttadaro mix on the A side, personally I’m not a fan of this mix and I only played the GG 404 (DJ) pressing of “Double Cross”, one day I ended up playing the same mix on the GG 405 pressing and though what's happened to the bass.
The GG 404 (DJ) pressing has more bass (my copy sounds bit distorted too) the GG 405 pressing sounds clearer, but it sounds slightly thin after playing the GG 404 (DJ) pressing for years.

For bass* = GG 404 (DJ)
For clarity (+ another mix) = GG 405 (DJ) or GG 405

*or sounds muddier depending on how you feel about it.
