| Specifically, "Music of The Beatles Goes Disco" by The Average Disco Band. Man oh man, is this ever FUCKING BAD!! :P First of all, the overall performance is mediocre at best. "Average" is too nice a term to use on even the best moments. Second, the original melodies and chord progressions are gone -- they've only kept the lyrics, and written new stuff to go underneath. Oh, and these new melodies and arrangements suck harder than an army of leeches on E. Third, ... oh jeez, I just can't go on. I'm listening to some horrid third-rate disco-muzak that's supposed to be a cover of Michelle, but it just ain't!! (yanks tonearm off record, and contempletes tossing turntable out window) Seriously, I couldn't even get through side 1. It's that wretched. On the upside, I think I've discovered what Cartman called "the brown noise"... |

| Wasn't there a Beatles disco medley by Stars on 45 or something? It was so amusingly awful. I'm not a Beatles fan in any way but this one was REALLY bad. I can only tolerate Beatles song when they are being covered by soul artists. If I were a Beatle I would be devastated at how much better my songs sounded when done by people who can actually sing. |

| I know this record and do believe it may cause heart disease and complicate pregnancies. The Cafe Creme album full of the same horrible tunes is nearly as difficult to endure. I would still listen to either of the discofications rather than suffer through the actual Beatles tracks though - when I was around 19 and itching to move I had to attend a "party" where all they did was sit on the floor smiling gently, talking with quiet voices and emoting to stuff like Hey Jude. Hell On Earth. |

| You poor thing...I sympathize. By the way, I read your book this summer and enjoyed it very much. I have a friend who actually translated the whole thing in Greek so he could convince some of his non-anglophile friends to read it. He has the whole thing on his PC complete with scans, photos and covers he added himself. |

As for the Beatles... I can't stand their early stuff which is really just formulated pop tunes, and fairly unremarkable ones at that. However, I do like most of their later stuff, with the exception of the so-called "White Album"... which goes down as one of the most self-indulgent recordings released in history. |

| Hey guys: the Stars on 45 disco medley was a legal reproduction of the bootleg mix record "Bits & Pieces III: Let's do it", a 12' released in 1980 and probably the most know of all mix bootleg editions. The middle section of that record contained like 10-15 Beatles songs mixed to a steady clap beat. It was so big a hit someone thought of doing a "legal" version (i.e. put a band playing the songs instead of mixing real Beatles records) and so that horrible "Stars on 45" was born. Remember "Hooked on Classics"? YEEEEAAACCHHHHH!!!!!! :o :o :o

My GOD!!!! The horror... :o THE HORROR!!! Somehow... I had managed to black it all out... riding around in my dad's car... it was my stepmom's favourite... my dad tolerated it because it had classical music in it... the cheesy drum machine... the horrid handclaps... the music all stretched or squashed to the same tempo.... hearing it over and over and OVER AND OVER!! And there were SO MANY OF THEM!! Sequels, spin-offs, and of course... a FUCKING "HOOKED ON" CHRISTMAS ALBUM!!! AIEEEEE!!! Now, would you like to hear something really scary? The album is still in print. Just imagine it on CD, without even the mercy of a break between side 1 and 2. Oh gawd... I think I would rather sit through a dusk-to-dawn Pauly Shore film festival. :P Funny, this disco beatles album doesn't seem so bad now... |

| I think Paul Mauriat           did a great job with some Beatles' songs :P , The Salsoul Orchestra did the impossible thing covering just Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band :o (2:50) and Stella McCartney (32), daugther of Paul McCartney (60) loves the disco style :P . . |

| Stop slagging off Paul Mauriat right now! :-) Injustly known only for his admittedly sickly sweet reworkings of mouldy standards like Beatles tunes, Paul also produced a fistful of dynamite in his day such as Freedom Come Freedom Go and other groovy lounge faves. His disco output isn't bad either. |
