Default Inexplicably common disco records

Does this happen to anyone else? You're sifting through the 12"/disco section at your local used record shops. It seems that no matter where you go, you come across a certain record... a records that wasn't all *that* big in the day, but seem to be more common than car exhaust now. For me, the one record that I can practically guarantee finding at any shop to Toronto is...

Edwin Starr: H.A.P.P.Y. Radio (12" on 20th Century).

I'd swear that I have personally come across over 30 copies of this in the last year -- most Cnd pressings, some US, even one UK copy, I think. One store had about a dozen that were still sealed.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

Yes I seem to always come across 2nd hand copies of Sharon Redd 'Can You Handle It' & McFadden & Whitehead 'Aint no stopping Us Now' on a regular basis. Oh & lately I've noticed alot of Dan Hartman 'Relight My Fire' too.

I go to quite a few car boot sales on Sunday mornings looking for records, and I always see "Boogie Wonderland" on 12-inch plus the "Best Of The Stylistics" on LP. Guaranteed every time!

:)

Steely Dan , where are you going to see Dan Hartman? I have never seen that anywhere but I don't have the chance to get to see that much.

Hey Guys, When you see Out House '73 by Bobby sax & the New Messiah by the cart load, buy a dozen for me.
All joking aside, isn't this just down to regional tastes and some active trader just off loading stock that's been around too long?
Now, if you see a load of Mike T's 'Do it Anyway You Wanna' please let me know.....................

The last time I was browsing in a local, dusty used records shop, I saw maybe 20 copies of "Tattoo Man" by Denise McCann (?). Some were LPs, some were 12-inchers, some were still sealed and a few were on colored vinyl, if I remember correctly.

I know nothing about this song. Was it a hit? Is it any good? Should I go back and buy one of the many copies (all selling for $1.99).

Btw: I was surprised to read that Jazz said he sees so many copies of "Boogie Wonderland" for sale. I've noticed that that 12-inch usually fetches a moderately high price on eBay.

Maybe you should snap them up and make some money on eBay, Jazz!

Anything Denise McCann is pretty common here too, but then again, she's Canadian, so it's not all that unexpected.

Butterfly loved to press stuff on coloured vinyl. Some places will charge more for this just because it's coloured vinyl, but they're really not that uncommon.

I personally never clicked with anything of hers, although someone (Jussi?) told me that they loved the 12" mix of "Midnight Madness".

I don't think I have any of her LPs on Butterfly... one of her LPs was released here on Polydor, the other on RCA (surprise, surprise...)
