Default What 70s Disco Song Did NOT Make You Run To The Dancefloor?

Hello Guys! It's been a long, long time since I've dropped by. So glad to be back! I've been reading some very interesting threads here and thought about this as I was reading the thread about what song made you "run to the dancefloor"... I thought about the opposite...What song did you tend to "sit out"? I remember at high school dances as well as some of the local discos here in the desert southwest, the kids never really liked dancing to Donna Summer's "I Feel Love"...We thought it was just a little too fast and a little too long (little did we know) Another song that usually cleared the dancefloor was "Disco Duck" and believe it or not, "Y.M.C.A" as well as "Macho Man"! Look forward to your responses...
Take Care... Mario

Ring My Bell is easily my choice. Still can't get that "pauhn" sound out of my head

IMO paul, that "pauhn" sound is the best bit about the track! I never liked this track mainly 'cos the song & production are so unpleasant. Along with Kelly Marie's 'Feels like Im In Love' this has to rate as the disco record with the nastiest, cheapest sound. (I'm not including stuff after '82 when 'cheapo' became de rigeur! )

Probably anything by Boney M. especially "Rasputin" - "Brown Girl In The Ring". I remember a local club with a resident DJ who always played Boney M. we devised a cunning plan, one of our friends would be the decoy and ask him for a request while somebody else would lift the arm off the Boney M record.

That's just nasty, but understandable! I could never stand anything by Tina Charles or 5000 Volts either.

I hate it whenever a club or dance always plays YMCA or Ring My Bell whenever they start mixing in old disco standards. No imagination. When I did DJ gigs, even though it was just company christmas parties, I threw in obscure disco tunes like say a BT Express tune that wasn't Do It or Express, and they danced. Mind you, they were also plenty wasted, but that's when you pull out all the good underground disco tunes.

The song is terrible. Her voice is also really annoying. But I love the video. It's hilarious - her walking around London England with two dancers in sailor uniforms. They got some great moves. Certainly a welcome distraction from Kelly Marie herself.

always detested "I Will Survive", anything by KC and the Sunshine Band (dumb lyrics, weak vocals), almost anything by the Village People or Kool and the Gang and novelty songs like "Disco Duck". Also, disco remixes of rock and pop songs intended only to cash in on disco's popularity.

Disco Duck or DisGo-Rilla - Rick Dees
Zodiacs - Roberta Kelly
YMCA/Macho Man/In The Navy - Village People (except for Go West)
Feels Like I'm In Love - Kelly Marie
The Main Event - Barbara Striesand
Copacabana - Barry Manillow
Don't Stop The Music - Bay City Rollers (Although I'm a big fan!)
I Was Made For Dancin/Feel The Need - Leif Garrett (why oh why did he put a bad name to disco)
Kiss In The Dark - Pink Lady

Most anything by the Bee Gees - except You Should Be Dancing, along with most of the songs mentioned previously.

I never liked Michael Jackson & it was torture during the Thriller era when the particular club I went to would play each hit throughout the night....every night.

I have to agree. Although I like Michael and The Jacksons....the Thriller album was overkill. You couldn't go anywhere or turn on the radio without hearing anything from it...kinda like "Saturday Night Fever".....

That album was milked for all it was worth back in the day. I think out of all the tracks on there, only one or two didn't get released as a single or have a video made of it.

"What a fool believes" by the Doobies, this song not only made me run from the dance floor but the club too.

"Enough is enough" Summer and Straisand gave us the most annoying Disco song ever!!!! IMO
