To clarify ..... this isn't based on chronology .... it's based on each lady's volume/quality of work and overall contributions to the disco scene . So ..... You are about to crown the queen at the all-time Disco Queen pageant and in competiton are fifty female disco singers from the day ( you know who they are *****

| I'd go with Grace Jones too. Although I don't like everything she put out, she was an interesting performer with the usual over the top production mixed with some punk imagery and a cool performance style. La Vie en Rose is such an astounding track & so different for the era. I have to admit - I'm a much bigger fan of her post-Warm Leatherette albums though. |

| Linda Clifford. I always saw her as being at the very cusp of the disco zeitgeist. (Pretentious, moi?)

| Carol Douglas a possibility? Pattie Brooks? Cheryl Lynn? This is too difficult.

| Remmy, I'm a bit confused about the rules here. I would pick France Joli too, although KDave mentioned her already. |

| According to Joel Whitburn's Hot Dance/Disco book, it might go something like this: 1. Donna Summer 2. Diana Ross 3. Grace Jones 4. Loleatta Holloway 5. Jocelyn Brown 6. Gloria Gaynor 7. Chaka Khan 8. Evelyn "Champagne" King 9. Claudja Barry 10. Linda Clifford That's for their entire output, beyond the 70s. If your intention is to stick to the 70s only: 1. Donna Summer 2. Gloria Gaynor 3. Vicki Sue Robinson 4. Carol Douglas 5. Grace Jones 6. Diana Ross honorable mentions: the Ritchie Family girls, the Sweethearts of Sigma, Silver Convention, Norma Jean Wright, and the Birds of Paris My personal choice would be the mighty, mighty Rochelle Fleming from First Choice.
