With all due respects there are some members that were having difficulty with the way you "originally" worded this request. It doesn't help that you edited your post after the fact making all subsequent posts seem out of place or that you get upset at others for not understanding your original intentions. So noted Bernie .

I try hard to make my threads interesting and to give their premises some zip . What I think is clearly being said in the process .... obviously sometimes really isn't. Sorry about that. And yes sometimes I back up to try to clean it up with an edit with the intention of making it better ... not worse !!

For those who don't already sense my style .....I like to exaggerate my responses. Upset ? never. Frustrated ?.... maybe here and there...

BUT STILL --- I was enjoying myself the entire time thruout this thread. I had hoped I had conveyed that and nothing else . I apologize to others who weren't enjoying it in a similar way .

That's true; Cheryl certainly was a diva par excellence and was very much at the peak of disco. Has Teena Marie been mentioned yet? & Sharon Redd. Maybe they're a bit too 80s to qualify? I absolutely love 'em though!

I like Patti Labelle but apart from her '79 LP she didn't do much disco or funk did she? I always think ballads are her forte, & occasionally she'd do a frantic 'too fast for dancing' track like 'New Attitude' or 'Stir It Up'.

A good point Dave.. Patti is a superb diva but her voice is more suited to power ballads rather than faster disco tracks..
