As for me, song without violins seems to be not really disco at all :). There are exclusions, I know:)

My violin-favorites:

Arabesque - Catch me tiger
Arabesque - Friday night
Arabesque - In the heat of the disco night
Lipstique - At the discotheque suite
Boney M - Sunny
Dschinghis Khan - Puszta
Belle Epoque - Miss Broadway

may be more..:)

Seems I've got some catching up to do with old topics...

I L-O-V-E strings in disco, it makes it feel more luxurilous, expensive and sensous...

Many great examples allready mentioned, and here are some more (maybe some have allready been mentioned):

Sweet Tears - Roy Ayers
Vertigo/Relight My Fire - Dan Hartman
Stomp - Brothers Johnson
Love Hangover - Diana Ross
Love Me Only - Narada Michael Walden (strings arranged by Patrick Adams! Was there ever a 12" of this? Havent seen one... unless maybe some later issue. Would be nice to have on original)

Other great violins disc songs

Alec Costandinos - Romeo and Juliet
Amant - If there's love
Demis Roussos - L.O.V.E.
Walter Murphy - A Fifth of Beethoven
Beautiful Bend - That's the meaning
John Miles - Music
Boystown Gang - Can' take my eyes off you
The three degrees - TSOP
Cerrone - Love in C minor
Cerrone - Look for Love

and the best of all to finish

Dennis Parker - Like an eagle

This is a masterpiece

Default My favorite violin moments

Some of my favorite violin moments in disco:

* "Summer Love" by Musique - I just heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago, and I love it! It has such an amazing violin arrangement.
* "Perfect Love Affair" by Constellation Orchestra - looks like other people also like this one, because "Orchestral Manoeuvres" by Ray Mang is basically repeated samplings of the best violin section from that song
* "My Forbidden Lover" by Chic and its sampling in "Sexual Guarantee" by Alcazar
* "I Want Your Love" by Chic
* "What Am I Gonna Do With You?" by Barry White
* "The First, the Last, My Everything" by Barry White
* "Should I Let Him Go?" by The Company
* "Koochie-Koo" by Baccara

"Koochie-Koo" by Baccara

I just gave it a listen... and I can't find more than, like, 5 percent difference in the string arrangement to "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie". The string arrangement is thus almost IDENTICAL to the string arrangement of "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie". Though, I must say that I love the strings of both tunes! :D

Too, too many...the Baccara 'Yes, Sir...' is a particular all-time fave (double the fun on the Manhattan 12" - so cute!) but 'My Love Is Free' by Double Exposure, 'Cocomotion', 'Disco Inferno', 'T.S.O.P.' and 'Love Train' by the O'Jays have all had me on my knees.

Forrrce:

I was actually a bit disappointed when I got my copy of the "Yes Sir..." 12". How could they be so stupid to REMOVE the very sensual intro, and start with fade in after the intro?

Really? I haven't played it for a long time so I can't remember, it was an earlier posting that reminded me of the song. This is the extended US 12, not the Spanish one, right? I hope you're wrong, or I'm gonna find those ladies and severely chastise them!

Yes, it's the extended US 12" on Manhattan Records.

And it makes it even more strange that it is extended, but still they've removed the intro!!
