(I was beginning to think I was the only person who remembered that track.)

Yow!! me too, I love that track and would have loved a Tom Moulton mix of that one. This track was written by the late great Gwen Guthrie.

Apart from the hits I also really like 'One more time' from the W.A.F album.

i love Sister Sledge.. their best period were the three albums from 79-81
We Are Family, Love Somebody Today and All American Girls.

nothing really grabs me after that. the UK #1 Frankie was an awful song.

my favourites:

He's The Greatest Dancer
All American Girls
Thinking Of You
Pretty Baby
Lost In Music
If You Really Want Me
Got Love Somebody Today
We Are Family
Easier To Love
Ooh, You Caught My Heart

On this tip, Easy Street has been on regular rotation at my house, plus Reach Your Peak. The whole Got To Love Somebody LP is terrific for me.

From African Eyes, "Let it out" was a nice slice of early 90's style midtempo soul with a light hip hop soul rhythm. "You are the one" is in a similar vein with some nice guitar keeping rhythm. "I love you for life" was a ballad similar to what the Blackgirls and Changing Faces were doing but with much more class. Randy Bowland had a hand on all 3 tracks in writing and production and has been involved with numerous R&B hits over the last 2 decades. "World Rise and Shine" is reminiscent of Earth, Wind, and Fire's work with the Emotions in the arrangement of the horns.

I was not aware of style and don't see anything at Allmusic. It must be a Japanese release.

Kathy Sledge released an album in 1992 called Heart that was a mixture of MOR/R&B/New Jack Swing. "Take me back to love" hit number 24 and is an excellent midtempo groover in the vein of Chante' Moore's debut. "Every little way" was a light New Jack number that was in the vein of Karyn White's singles. "Since I found you" is reminiscent of Soul II Soul's British street soul style and really should have been released as a single. This is well worth getting as copies are plentiful so thus cheap and her album truly reflects the variety of soul music in the early 1990's.

Sister Sledge: Style
Yeah, anyone? I had their websites once. I'll have to find them again. Kim is solo as a gospel singer/minister (I think?) Only Debbie and Joni are performing as Sister Sledge.

I remember the first time I saw them on Soul Train singing "Love Don't Go thru no changes". I couldn't believe that voice of Kathy's! My favorite song by them, even though somewhat overplayed, is "The Greatest Dancer".
