DanceMan: Mama Never Told Me was a really big disco hit in the U.K. One of their revered pre '78 records I mentioned.

I can't believe no one has mentioned "Got to Love Somebody Today", one of my favorites--despite the line about "popcorn and jelly beans"!

I'd have to agree that "Lost in Music" is probably their best song; even the remix (1984?) was hot. There was also a great remix of "We Are Family" in the early '90s that's now available (along with the '80s remix of "Lost in Music") on a special edition CD of the We Are Family LP.

My favorite is "He's The Greatest Dancer". "All American Girls" is nice too.

At first, it sounds like something they wrote for Sheila & B. Devotion. But it really grows on you. Glad to see someone else likes it too.

I am glad someone mentioned BYOB! Thank You For The Party is pretty cool too.

I am surprised no one has mentioned "Il Macquilage Lady" from "The Sisters" which I guess, I too forgot to mention. Nice late period track.

6. Happy Feeling (from the All American Girls album)
7. B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Baby)
8. Lost In Music
9. We Are Family

Let's Go On Vacation is a weird cut for me. Cutesy, but not much more than filler...yet it was a single. GTLS suffered from odd single selections if you ask me. You Fooled Around was a corker, but never saw a release. Reach Your Peak was a good song, but not a single IMHO.

I'd have to agree with Dayna . . ."He's the Greatest Dancer" really gets the blood (and feet) pumping ! As for some of the other hits, I feel "We Are Family" is a bit too overplayed (on almost every disco compilation covering the '74 - '80 period) so it's sorta lost its freshness for me. The hidden gem, though, that I urge ALL to check out is their first chart hit, 1974's "Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me". To think that lead singer Kathy was only 15 and to hear her strong vocals, you know you're listening to talent, talent, talent

Oh, Good Lord, YES! Couldn't agree more.
(I was beginning to think I was the only person who remembered that track.)

Funny thing is I'd never heard of Sister Sledge until "He's The Greatest Dancer" came out. Speaking of the sisters, what are they up to these days. I heard that only 2 of them still perform as Sister Sledge.

It's always been a fave of mine because it always reminds me of the first time I ever saw the group perform. This was years ago on American Bandstand.

Does anyone remember "Thank You For The Party" from "Bet'cha Say That To All The Girls" aka the George Duke LP? I rediscovered this cut recently, and have always thought it'd be a nice closer for a set. Cheerful, a slick little groover and from a really underrated LP. "B.Y.O.B" from this LP has been mentioned earlier, and is also a good cut.

"Let's go on, go on vacation, our love could stand a rennovation" hm. Still dunno how I feel about that song...he he. I'll listen to it in the sunshine and see if it works better

Oh, and the Tom Moulton mix of Mama Never Told Me is a sugar sweet early disco treat! Worth picking up the Creme De La Creme series for.

"Circle of love" was one of their earliest and best to my ears. It was only included on the original album of that name which thankfully and finally was reissued by Wounded Bird. It's odd that it never was on a best of despite the fact that they sung it on Soul Train.
