Howdy!

This week i got nostalgic but not so far back in time. I took some time to listen to a few of my techno favourites from the early 90's aswell as some house classics from that time and later in the mid 90's. So here is a short list of my favourites this week. It would also be interesting to know if there are anyone else of all you disco freaks who got into techno in the early 90's. To me it's been kind of natural development since techno at that time was very big on the dance floors where i went. Anyway, here is my list of this weeks favourite songs....

* LA Style - James Brown is dead

* T99 - Anasthasia

* Adeva - It should have been me

* Monie Love vs Adeva - Ring my bell

* Shades of love - Body to body (J Vasquez remix of this classic)

* Sandy B - Make my world go around (Curtis & Moore 12" remix)

* Brand New Heavies - You are the universe (Curtis & Moore remix)

Enjoy the weekend!

/Peter

It's funny... I loved this song when it came out, and had a whole pile of remixes (although there are really only three versions that matter -- original instrumental, original with rap, and re-remix with faux-middle-eastern feel).

Anyway, a few months ago I was thinking about it, when it finally dawned on me...

...the sample which gives the song its title is one of David Letterman. Talk about figuring it out a little late!

I miss early 90s techno. Sadly, by 1992 it was all over, when the formulas for dance music became mandatory. Everything has sounded the same ever since.

Graham, i definetly agree with you that it was a very short period when techno was really great. Since then the only new music that i've found good enough to listen to is the club/house music that came in 95-96. Anyway, last year i made a technomix with all the favourites from those early techno days in the 90's. It's called Technomix-91 and the title is chosen because most of the songs were played in 1991 even though a bunch of them were released much earlier. Some of the tunes in the mix is probably from a later date but i put together those songs that i recall being the essential techno tunes from the early 90's. Anyone who wants to listen to this mix can find it at this address: http://www.notbugsbunny.com/Technomix-91.mp3

Just beware that it's almost 10 megs in size so if you're on a slow connection it might take some time to download. I'm working on getting a streaming server on my webserver but have'nt come so far in those efforts yet. Feel free to send me comments on what you think about this mix at notbugsbunny@notbugsbunny.com.

P.S I'm working on an idea about making a similar mix but with only old disco classics, but so many such mixes have been made so i won't start until i have "THAT GREAT" idea on how to make it.
