Default I'm listening to 'Rah Band' track

I'm listening to a track by the 'Rah Band' entitled
'Messages from the Stars' from about 1982(ish)
This track is by no means a rare track and i assume is fairly well known (well the group are), they had many numerous other hits during the late 70's/early 80's, but this one track i suppose is one of their songs they were least remembered for!
I have to say though that this track in my opinion in just a wonderful, superb song-the whole feel of the track is just amazing, the vocals/words of the song just amazing!
"I got messages from the stars when your making love to me,i got messages from the stars-you must be from another galaxy"
With a haunting/catchy rhythm and a stunning female vocal, this song is another of those tracks i could just play over & over again!

I have all their records and that is one of my favourites! Great vocals! Very distinctive style!

For some unknown reason, I always remember that when I used to listen to Greg Edward's legendary Soul Spectrum show on Capital Radio all those years back, the Rah Band has a massive cult following on his show. Everybody was always asking for a Rah Band track! And Richard Hewson (I think that's what his name was) was quite often on the show...

re RAH BAND:
I hate to say it ( I really wish I could agree on something with you guys), but they sound a little cheesy now to my ears. I was never a great lover of that saccharin sweet vocalist, she never seemed to fully go with the smoothsophistijazz instrumental sound happening behind her. Even jazz divas usually have a bit more emotion than that.
I guess they'd be perfect fodder for JAZZ FM, the worst joke in radio (the biggest JAZZ radio staion in the world, but where's the F*****G Jazz?). Smooth Elevator/Wallpaper Music FM would be a better name.
Still, I'll try and tune into Greg on Fridays, even if I have to buy another digibox or DAB tuner for the hi-fi in the conservatory.

Quinny

I don't think the Rah Band are played at all now on Jazz FM. It was in the early Eighties that they had this cult following. I couldn't really understand it myself, but I was a part of it all the same. I think the production and the vocals sounded a bit quirky, but I still liked it. And still do!

And you are in for a shock Quinny - I am actually gonna agree with you!! The smooth jazz fodder output during the day on JazzFM is pretty dire I must admit. But it's only the specialist shows that I tune into - Greg Edwards, Robbie Vincent, Mike Chadwick (his Latin shows and his modern jazz beats show are both very good) , Hed Kandi ...

The shame is that JazzFM started out so promisingly - I recall in the early days of the station, Gilles Petterson, with his unmissable show - he called it
jazz with attitude and that's what you got ... A lot of Grant Green, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Lou Donaldson, John Patton - now, if only those days could come back .....They even used to have an Indie Soul show ....

Maybe JazzFM is the biggest station in the world, but a missed opportunity, m'thinks ...
