Thanks for the link!

When Carl Carlton is mentioned, most people think about this song or Everlasting Love. But I think his best work was under the production helm of Bunny Sigler - I Wanna Be With You. The LP was recorded in '75 and featured Instant Funk on backing track. The songs were well written, and the bass was rippin'. I don't think the record got too much promotion back in the day, so it died. Perhaps the Instant Funk sound was too progressive for the disco music lovers?

Instant Funk's 'Got My Mind Made Up" is a disco classic, so no their sound was never regarded as too advanced!

I Got My Mind Made Up was released in 1979. By then, the Instant Funk sound had become established. The Carl Carlton record I Wanna Be With You was released in '75. At that time, the funky slap bass disco sound wasn't so big. I think it was all about the brassy, stringy disco like KC & The Sunshine Band and Van McCoy.
