Okay you fellow disco-rockers! (Outsider?) Which disco songs do you think had the best guitar licks?

My first pick is Donna Summers' "Hot Stuff."
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

The local Disco station here in Miami, 103.5, plays a version of Lime's "Unexpected Lovers" that has a very nice instrumental acoustic-guitar part toward the end of the song. It's sweet.

Regards,
Alvaro

I'll leave the funky and jazzy Disco tunes to Blax, Jazz and Sammy I'll stick with Disco proper and go with "For Your Love" by Chilly and the Walter Gibbons remix of "Law and Order" by Love Committee.

Oh boy!! This is a tough question to me!!!

Hmmmmm.....OK, as Nile Rodger's fan, I have to pick Chic's song. So, the best guitar in a disco song (to me) is on:

'Real People' by Chic.

Peace

I'd have to go with Animotion- 'Obsession', the guitar solo in Baby O 'In the forest' or maybe Dennis Coffey's 'Wings of Fire'.

Must Say I support Motown on this one
Don't really know which one to pick
Want you back by Jackson 5
isn't really disco
but the guitarr tune is what has made this song so catchy and popular....

Otherwise there is so much mentioning one wouldn't be fair
Commodores - Machine Gun
Eddie Kendricks - Most of his stuff
Diana Ross - lotz of her stuff too
Secret Weapon - Must be the Music

Best guitar in a disco song? Uhmmmm... that's a tough choice! In terms of rythm guitar I have to agree with Blaxman: Niles Rogers is hard to beat. The guy set the standard for disco guitar; everything else after him was and has been a copy of his work.

In terms of guitar soloes I would have to say Eddie Van Halen's work in Beat It. I love the sound of that guitar!

Althoug it is not disco, I have always loved the guitar solo in The Commodores' "Sail On." Or is it "Easy"? I can't remember right now, the flu is killing me.

Compiling a playlist earlier today when I decided to play "Strawberry Letter 23" by Brothers Johnson. Listen to the guitars especially the riffs deep in the background.

I like "Slide" and "He's The Greatest Dancer" for their nice use of that instrument.
