markydefad mentioned buying a 12" single by canadian disco singer karen silver, who recorded a couple of decent disco albums with gino soccio in '79 and '81. i went online in search of some info about her and found this:

if you remember "nobody else" or "love me tonight (turn off the light)" (both pretty great) or her amii stewart-ish remake of "hold on i'm comin'," you might be amused!

It says she was a successful Canadian entertainer before she went into makeup...and it sure looks like an older version of her in the photo.

But,you're right that they don't elaborate about any of her records.

"successful Canadian entertainer" is a contradiction of terms. :lol:

Canadians do not consider themselves "successful" until they have made it big enough to move to the USA... like Celine Dion, Alanis Morrissette, and just about any other famous Canadian that you could name.

Mmmm, Graham, you may be right. I think of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen. Three old faves of mine, all three Canadian, all three moved to the U.S. to make it.
David Cronenberg would be another case, but then Canadian cinema (with D.C. exception) leaves me cold.
