Jean-Marc Cerrone did soundtracks for at least 2 films – BRIGADE MONDAINE (1978) and DANCING MACHINE (1990). Did the BRIGADE record get any plays in America when it was realesed? I do know the film itself never came out there but does anybody know anything at all about it – Boodikka? In Europe it got very few playdates, and all I know is that it appears to be an extremely tough crime film. The soundtrack album sleeve has a picture of a – surprise - bare-breasted woman and the music centers around 3 themes. The main tune is ”Vaudou Aux Caraibes”, a conga-driven ethnic-flavoured disco track with voices chanting in some Caribbean language. ”Vaudou” is repeated in different forms a couple of times, and on a version called ”Generique” it becomes ”Africanism” from the Kongas album of 1978. ”Desertion” is a moody slow melody and ”Soumission” is a melodic disco piece used earlier in the Cerrone production ”House of the Rising Sun” by Revelacion. In addition, the album has the old favourite ”Look For Love”. – DANCING MACHINE was more widely distributed. This Gilles Beilat-directed murder mystery starring Alain Delon was set in a dance studio and was produced by Cerrone himself and also based on a novel by the man. I personally thought the film was okay if a bit predictable and oh-so-French with every girl stripping at any given change, much like they did in all those wonderful italian giallo films a good 15 years earlier. Monsieur Delon looked too far too old already to take his shirt off which he unfortunately did a number of times, naturally with girls 25 years his junior. DANCING MACHINE soundtrack had all kinds of dancey tracks plus another remix of ”Supernature”, heard during the main setpiece.

– If anyone has info of BRIGADE MONDAINE please let’s hear it.

Hi Jussi! Though I'm not familiar with either film, in researching them I did come upon some interesting trivia: it appears that Cerrone has also written the soundtracks for the recent direct-to-video EMMANUELLE series. This series is an "official" EMMANUELLE series in that it is written by the real Emmanuelle, Emmanuelle Arsan.

Did the Brigade soundtrack even get released in North America? I've never come across it. Unidisc has most of Cerrone's stuff in print here, and I've seen the Dancing Machine OST, but this is the first I've heard of Brigade...

Cerrone did tunes for the EMMANUELLE tv series !? Dammit, they aired them on our tv but I did not bother to watch but a few minutes of the stuff. Luckily the episodes should still be for rent in video stores. Thanks for the info!! By the way, there's a kinky television series from Brazil doing the rounds now, The Story of O. While not as entertaining in the shampoo ad sense of the word as the Jaeckin film the segments are still definitely worth a look.

- The BRIGADE MONDAINE lp was apparently totally dismissed everywhere - strange, as the percussive tracks do pack a punch. In the album there are some of the first way ahead of their time effects, sudden moments where the synth music stops totally and then starts again in slower tempo 3 beats after. Quite an interesting album, really.

The soundtracks I mean are the 2000/2001 direct-to-video productions, not the Just Jaeckin (sp) items from the '70s.

Hello! BRIGADE MONDAINE is a picture from

the director JACQUES SCANDELARI and is a

very sleazy and (for me)so-called EVIL-DISCO-

MOVIE! The Trax: 1)Give Me Love

2)Phonic

3)Cloe

4)Deauville

5)Experience

6)Generique Part 1

7)Make Up

Generique Part 2

9)The Loft

10)Striptease(which is very

high-energetic!)

Most of the trax are instrumental and elec-

tronic. It has a cold atmosphere...also

included in the picture is Kongas´"Gimme

Some Lovin´". It´s one of my favorite Disco-

Soundtracks of all times.

Hi Sirius -

Strange - I downloaded info on BRIGADE MONDAINE and recoeved the same details a mate who had seen the film gave me. There's a BRIGADE...directed by Eddy Matalan in 1978, with music by Cerrone. An Italian film guide lists the director as Scandelari.- The film itself is about white slave trade and hookers getting murdered. As was often the case up until mid 80's quite a number of euro directors of exploitation films used different names for different territories - this is what might be the case here.

My own soundtrack album has some of the tracks you listed - there's the generique ones, but not the rest, apart from Give Me Love. I got track called Soumission , a take on the symphonic bit off the 1st Revolucion lp, plus the version of Africanism, but no Loft. This really bugs me, need to dig deeper into it!

HI! I understand, that you are a little bit

confused...there were several sequels of

Brigade-Movies mostly made in France. The

real and hard one is called BRIGADE MONDAINE

by JACQUES SCANDELARI made in 1978. Musique

de cerrone pour le premiere fois! From this

picture there´s also an alternative title

called "Give Me Love". It´s about girlies,

coming into s/m-scene, because they were

influenced be drugs. If they are knowing too

much or not necessary anymore, they will be

killed...

About the Soundtrack: I have the dutch-pressing...VICE SQUAD by CERRONE/Brigade

If you're looking for information about cerrone what's better than link on cerrone's official web site? (www.cerrone.net)

There are 3 Brigade Mondaine:

Brigade mondaine n°1 include:

Give Me Love

Phonic

Deauville

Experience

Make Up

Generique.2

Strip-Tease

Brigade MOndaine II - - La Secte de Marrakech - include:

Generique BM2

Don't Give A Damn

La Secte De Marrakech.1

La Corruption

Retour A L'amour

Le Cachot

Overdose

Brigade Mondaine III - Vaudou aux Caraibes -include

Vaudou Aux Caraibes

Desertion

Vaudou Aux Caraibes.2

Desertion.2

Soumission

Generique Vaudou Aux Caraibes

Desertion.3

It's intersting that most of the songs are remixed version of original Cerrone's songs. Athoer ones, like "Don't give me a damn", was released on the Crocos label (a subsidiary label of malligator record) in a long version, and printed in very limited series.

If someone is intersted in write the complete Cerrone's discography we can work togheter on this forum!

Ah, at last, mystery solved - there was 3 movies instead of one. Even Internet Movie database could not get to the bottom of this thing! What I got is the soundtrack number 3 then. Are any of these movies available on tape in France or anyplace? A company called Miami Video Search could be the address but since it's a pirate operation one should not really support it though.

That Revelacion DON'T GIVE A DAMN album is odd by the way as the sleeve does not give a track listing at all, but then again, lps weren't usually sold wrapped in plastic those days.

Jussi,

Here's the track listing and release data from my original vinyl copy of "Don't Give A Damn" by Revelacion:

A side:

1) Living On Love 10:00 (Essentially the same "Living On Love" from Cerrone's "V" album)

2) The Time Is Right 6:40

B side:

1)I Don't Give A Damn 16:50
