I've been looking at bits and pieces of the Top 500 in those several posts Bernie made which he's asking for BPM for each song.

Anyhow comparing my top 25 to the lists, 7 songs from my selection made it in the top 500 and they are:

2 – Brass Construction – Movin’ 1975 (THANK GOD IT'S IN THERE THIS TIME!)
7 – Cerrone – Cerrone’s Paradise 1976
8 – Undisputed Truth – You + Me = Love 1976
9 – Jackson Sisters – I Believe In Miracles 1973
21 – Jakki – Sun Sun Sun 1976
24 – Eastside Connection – You’re So Right For Me 1977
25 – Double Exposure – Ten Percent 1976

As for the BPMs, sorry Bernie I can't help you there as I'm no expert on knowing the beats per minute in songs.

So how many of your songs from your top 25 have made the top 500?

In the particular numbering that I posted them to Bernie, 16 out of my Top 25 made it:

1) LOVIN' IS REALLY MY GAME - BRAINSTORM
2) THE MAIN EVENT - BARBRA STREISAND
4) I'VE GOT THE NEXT DANCE - DENIECE
WILLIAMS
5) THE BOSS - DIANA ROSS
9) HI ENERGY - EVELYN THOMAS
10) CANDIDATE FOR LOVE - T.S. MONK
11) CAN YOU HANDLE IT - SHARON REDD
13) MUSIC IS MY WAY OF LIFE - PATTI LABELLE
15) HEAVEN MUST HAVE SENT YOU - BONNIE
POINTER
16) I JUST KEEP THINKIN' ABOUT YOU BABY -
TATA VEGA
17) THAT'S WHERE THE HAPPY PEOPLE GO -
THE TRAMMPS
18) LET YOURSELF GO - THE SUPREMES
19) HEAVEN KNOWS - DONNA SUMMER
20) TURN THE BEAT AROUND - VICKIE SUE
ROBINSON
22) THIS WILL BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER -
EDDIE HOLMAN
25) STAR LOVE - CHERYL LYNN

I was really thrilled to see that T.S. Monk made it and disappointed that James Wells didn't....oh well...

the ones that I expected to make it did.
The question is the ranking and what is #1.
There seems to be more crossover hits hhere then on the last survey.
and I was right
although a lot of club classics are listed here, there are more pop crossover hits.

Last time there were 116 top 40,90 top 20,69 top 10,and a mere 34 number one pop hits among the top 500.

This time around there are 149 top 40,117 top 20,93 top 10s and a big 43 number one pop hits in this top 500.

On the last survay the highest ranking top 40 hit Sylvester at #6 with Chics good times at #13 the higest ranking #1 pop hit.

The #1 hit last time Voyage Souveneiers peaked at #41 on the hot 100.

It will be interesting to see the rankings

Interesting Facts there:
Oh dear, not EVERYONE likes obscure records. I'd say this time around the top 500 might be a little more balanced and meaningful.
Souvenirs at #1 for Goodness sake!!! That didn't distort reality by a country mile did it?

It's not about to like or dislike hits. It's all about prefer the obscure ones.

For example, my TOP 25 contains many hits as like: Ladies Night, Good Times, Let's Groove, Love's Theme and others that I cant remember now. Nothing original as you can see.

In fact, I like many disco hits, but not JUST disco hits. If I got it right, this is what the major part thinks around here.

What I really hates is the disco sHITS!!

Peace
