Default I found the "54" Soundtrack (Volume 1)

for $1.95! I LOVE the extended versions of "Native New Yorker" and "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" (but even this version of "Relight" is slightly edited). And the opening medley of various dance tracks is dynamite. Hint: if you want the best prices on disco music, shop at a store where disco is considered "uncool"; I found this treasure at a store I normally avoid as it specializes in hip hop. This release is in the top 5 of my favorite disco compilations.

Good philosophy! I've dug up some real soul gems in the vanilla suburbs.

PS: Don't shop anywhere where there isn't a price tag on the item.

skinflint, someone mentioned this cd several years ago. I didn't pay much attention at the time 'cause I already had the songs on that cd. I picked it up a few years later because someone commented how good Que Sera Mi Vida sounded. I confirmed this and I can't recommend this cd enough, especially to those who are new to disco. It remains my favorite compilation.

Good point. I think it should be illegal for retailers to have products without price tags. But hey, that's me. Sometimes they are honest, but many times they are crooked. Not having a set price means they can charge whatever they want if they see the person who wants it is really excited to have it.

The "54" soundtrack is certainly nice as a start for people new to disco. I also loved the album (the double cd version) when it was released back in the day.

Now the only problem I have with the CD is that most of the versions included on the album are rather short. These days I would prefer the longer versions in most cases. So IMO the album gets less attractive the more you get into other disco releases which concentrate on the longer versions available (e.g. Motown Disco, Disco Connection or original artist releases).
