Not disco I'm afraid, but I've been listening to stuff I remember from the 60s as a child. Most of these are from 1968/69:

Captain of Your Ship: Reparata & the Delrons

Lovin' Things: Marmalade

I Live For the Sun: Vanity Fare

A Day Without Love: Love Affair

Somethin' Here in my Heart: Paper Dolls

Gotta See Jane: R Dean Taylor

Goodnight Midnight: Clodagh Rodgers

Love is Love: Barry Ryan

White Horses: Jackie

Can't Take my Eyes Off You: Andy Williams

Just Lovin' You: Anita Harris

Conversations: Cilla Black

Biljo: Clodagh Rodgers

Surround Yourself with Sorrow: Cilla Black

Fellow, I really like your taste. Steely Dan & Michael Franks are 2 of my faves also.

However, today I've been listening to the 3 volume "It's Your Thing: The Story of The Isley Brothers" and I felt compelled to sing the praises of the beautiful tenor/falsetto vocals of Ronald Isley. I just love that man's distinctive and mellow voice. His ballads like "For The Love Of You", "Harvest For the World" "Hello It's Me", "Footsteps In The Dark" & "Between The Sheets" are like buttah (rich, creamy, melting buttah!!!).

The funk workouts are also topnotch: "It's Your Thing" , "That Lady", & "Fight The Power" make ya wanna get down and boogie.

All in all a pretty remarkable group that first formed in the 1950's and just had a top 10 charting CD this very year.

Also, today I've got an alltime fave, Patti Austin's "Every Home Should Have One" produced by Quincy Jones. If only someone could persuade these two artists to reteam on some new material. Patti's last few releases have really suffered from a lack of good material, IMO. And, god knows, Q knew a good song. So, maybe a little input from Q could get Patti back on the right path--maybe another release of standards like "The Real Me" or some jazzy pop soul like "Every Home Should Have One".

"If Only I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time..." to mix Tyrone Davis with Cher...

I'm listening to the intergalactic messages from THE DISCO SPACESHIP as delivered by Laurie Marshall. This is probably close to what Jacques Morali would have composed for The Ritchie Family had he felt a Star Wars moment coming on in 1977. The Disco Spaceship flies in the air, more Barbarella or Rollerball than Blade Runner, and makes you feel wonderful - not an inch of fat in your tightlittle silver body, no going back to work in the morning.
