I have for years heard a version of Love Hangover in the clubs that is kinda remixed and has the added backing vocals "i dont wan wan wan want no cure for this love hangover" and it repeats in a loop then goes into this short little break then back into the track. Does anyone know where this was from? Its not an updated remix, it is from back in the day im sure. Was this a promo 12" version?? I need to get a copy of it, can anyone help?

Do you mean the Diana Ross version? A friend of mine found a 10 minute Diana promo on Audiogalaxy which features different back up lyrics used a few times which were completely cut out of the album version.

Someone once posted here that the initial pressings of the "Diana" LP featured a 10 minute version of "Love Hangover" which was subsequently shortened to the version we all know. I have no proof that this is true...BUT as I said--it WAS typed here by someone....so either it's Urban Disco Legend or someone's got it.

Dianaphile that I was, er...AM...I've never heard it.

The version you're talking about is on Disconet. I'll have to look up year and series for you. Credit for bringing this to Disconet I believe was given to Bobby "DJ" Guttadaro.

There is a also a bootleg of this bootleg which extends the Disconet version an additional 3 mintues (making it over 10 minutes long) and creates an actual "break" with the background vocals you stated, adding some 4/4 and percussive rhythm. Sadly, the pressing is the pitts but it always worked the floor. (Just wait 'til the alcohol/drugs have kicked in. )

Found it! Disconet put this out there twice, first on Volume 2, Number 8, of their regular remix series and then on their first Dance Classics series. "Love Hangover" is the first song in the medley, "Bobby DJ Spotlights Diana Ross". Vinyl # MWDN208A.

The extended bootleg was released on J.V.S. Records, Inc., JV605A, "Love Hangover", 10:10, (1st Take Remix). There's really no other info on the label as it was obviously illegal to begin with.

Good luck on your treasure hunt.

That bootleg was available at Aloha Records! I'm surprised Marky didn't get a copy. I know I did!

Thanx so much!!!! I beleve its the bootlegg I used to hear all the time. Does the disconet have any break with the vocals in it? Cause the break wasnt that long, maybe a 5 or 6 second break then it jumps back in. Let me know so I know which one to track down, i would think disconet would be easiest.

Yes, the Disconet version has the 5 or 6 second break. The bootleg has that same break and then repeats it later for at least 45 seconds. Put it this way, with a little pitching, you can run the entire intro of "Fascinated" by Company B over the break on the bootleg. More than long enough, IMHO.

--- Other DJ's back when used to insist that there was this suppressed "other" version of "LOVE HANGOVER " ... it was said to be the originally intended version that Diana Ross herself vetoed .

The reason? ...
Well the rumour then was that she felt the back-up singing was much too evident and played too great a role in the song's structure . In other words .... too Supremes sounding .... which was the last thing Miss Ross wanted during this , her post-Supremes diva solo artist , era.

( especially while at this same time , woefully for her , the Supremes were still very much a competing entity :P )

It was only in the last few years that I discovered that this legendary version had indeed surfaced and I got to hear this outtake that finally confirmed this oft told DJ story ....

Wasn't this the mix issued recently on the Diana 2 CD re-release? I am reffering to the Disconet mix...and yeah, it has that awesome break.

And if Diana thought it sounded anything like The Supremes...woah. Cracked out, cracked out...

There is a 10 minute version that was put on Disc 2 of the 2 disc Extended Diana. The first CD included the original Nile Rodgers/Bernard Edwards mixes of the album.
