KayJayEm54, when I drove by Medium Rare the other day (I drive by going to and from work), I saw a set of the RtP 5 soundtrack still in the window. They have told me the inventory is low so you might want to quickly send them an Email (mediumraremusic@aol.com) to see if any are still left.

As for the Lary Sanders compilations that some of you have received, I believe Lary gave them several copies of his compilations relatively recently to give out to pass out. Lary, like Jerry Bonham, DJ'ed on Fire Island back in the day and he too loves this era of music. One most of his compilations he's reached back and reedited early to mid 70s tracks - creating the twelve inch remixes that never existed! He has the same hopes and desire as Jerry and all of us connected with the RtP events - to keep this music alive by sharing!

Whistler, I have Dance Planet Vols. 1 and 3, but not 2, which I must ask him about since I love Bette's "Hurricane." I'll have to ask Lary did he used to spin this great cut off of Bette's "Thighs And Whispers" for those lucky boys at the Sandpiper. I only heard it played once at Trocadero and it sure didn't last 11 minutes!

BTW, Barry Walters has added tracks from Lary's compilations to RadioioDisco. So, you can hear them for yourselves!

Cheers Keefelc,

Just heard back from the one and only Jerry Bonham himself!! I've ordered the set from him and am waiting for it to fly across the Atlantic and drop through my letter box soon.

Can't wait to listen to the CD set and I guess I may not be listening to any other CDs for quite a considerable period of time!

Thanks again for the links and keeping us posted on the event and availability of the CDs. Medium Rare Music hasn't got back to me yet, but at least I've secured my copy through the man himself!

hey keefe,

yes, it's true, i have started to add some of lary sanders' extended edits to my station 24/7 disco internet station, RadioioDisco. i already had on my station many of the tracks he's extended, but i've added some tracks that had passed me by, like Jerry Butler's passionate Vietnam War-era track "Get On the Case," from his 1972 double album Offering the Spice of Life, which is notable for its inclusion for a much bigger track on the early New York underground club scene, "One Night Affair." i love to play sets of these sometimes overlooked early '70s soul songs that point the way to what more famously followed. undoubtedly many of you have heard some of them in another context, but when they're heard together i think they reveal their influence. i'm so thankful that people like lary are still sharing their experience and tastemaking chops so they can help school the rest of us!

gratefully yours,
barry of www.radioiodisco.com (also accessible from the 70s/80s pop section on iTunes.)

My favorite kind of mix is one where the follow-up song takes what is already a strong play in progress .... sneaks up behind it and swallows it whole.
That's to me what happens on disc 5 when Space’ MY LOVE IS MUSIC is delivering itself most competently …. and suddenly Cognac's HOW HIGH curls up and folds over it like a Tsunami .

Just put the first CD into the CD player - hot out of the packaging this afternoon - already I am reliving some tracks that I had completely forgotten about (and I feel so ashamed at admitting this!!) - Disc 5 is a little away, but I guess I can get through a few discs tonight. I just can't get enough!!!!!

Jerry is such a talented guy - makes me want to book a flight to the next one - ooooohhh here's Tenna Marie's Behind The Groove - oooooohhhhh!

For those of you thinking of possibly visiting San Francisco for Remember the Party 6, here's the latest announcement! This year's RtP is on another Columbus Day weekend Sunday, which is also the date of the very popular Castro Street Fair. You can find this announcement on the www.remembertheparty.com website. I'm pleased to say our DJ will again be the fabulous JERRY BONHAM!!!

The next chapter in the continuing 'Remember' the Party series will be 'Remember' the Party 6, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Trocadero Transfer which will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2007. Traditionally the 30th anniversary is known as the Pearl anniversary. Time to dig out that old pearl necklace you used for your June Cleaver outfit, you always KNEW you'd use it again someday! Now, where did I put that pearl tiara?!?!

A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to help benefit Under One Roof.
Where the right gift can change someone's life.

I've been given quite a few 'pearl necklaces' over the years! They never go outta fashion.

Lots of progress being made with getting everything ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Trocadero Transfer at Remember the Party 6! So, how appropriate that one of Troc's most celebrated and talked about DJs, Bobby Viteritti, has made leaps and bounds in the formation of his website (Untitled). Bobby just recently added some WONDERFUL sound clips from his recording of his sets at Trocadero way back in it's heyday!!! Check out the "Sample" section for 5 different clips which are pretty generous in length. In some of them, you can hear the crowd cheering in response to Bobby's magic. Then take a look at some of the photos of the club. I was instantly transported back to such a lovely time of my life!

Oh you know me too well TDK and I thank you for responding to Sandy! We're pretty busy here at work right now.

Sandy, might there be a possibility we'll see you at the 30th Anniversary party???

Finally, Bobby Viteritti's website (bobbyviteritti.com) has added more sound clips as well as a video snippets from "Wrecked For Life" (the documentary on Trocadero Transfer) and the video of Amanda Lear's "Follow Me"!
