Uh...did somebody say something....???
Hmmmm....????

Ah well, "I hear singing ...and there's no one there....I smell blossoms and the trees are bare...all day long I seem to walk on air...I wonder why, I wonder why..."

I'm NOT sick , I'm just.... uh,...well, sick, I guess. Oh, never mind.

Graham,

I didn't even notice!!!!

I sorta wanted it to stay at 1979--where it was last week. BUT,... "Everything Must Change"...Nothing stays the same"....

Life's saddest lesson, if ya ask me.

Markydefad, in a vaguely discontented and nostalgic mood. (Yes, folks I stopped the anti-depressants again!!!)

Very true... dogs are quite sentimental creatures, you know...

I cut back a couple of months ago... physically I'm feeling much better, but mentally, well... here's a story:

The other day, I was ordering lunch at the local Subway™ outlet. There was this snotty and freakish woman in line after me. She kept snapping at the staff and demanding they start over because their utensils/aprons/hands didn't "look clean" and they had touched her food with them. Now, I have a real problem with anyone who gives a hard time to people who have to work VERY HARD for very little money (cue Donna Summer's "She Works Hard..."). Let me add that this place is spotless. Anyway, as she's getting ready to pay for her sub, having just snapped at the cashier who dared to hand it to her, she does something that makes me just about explode: she grabs a bit of the cookie bits that they have in a basket as free samples -- you know, the ones that could've been pawed over by anyone. Yep, she bitches at the staff because the lid on the meatball sauce "doesn't look clean", because one server's apron which "doesn't look clean" touched her bread as she was preparing it, and accused the cashier of "squishing" her sandwich -- yet she had no problem taking the samples sitting out in the open, which is the only thing she should've been concerned with.

So, quiet, unassertive, non-confontational me lost my cool and snapped at her: "Oh my God! I can't believe you just ate that. Those cookies don't look clean!"

I stormed off to a table to eat my sub. She muttered something about not having to listen to me, and tried to haggle with the cashier. I was so angry, I was shaking with rage. I wanted to toss this stupid bitch into oncoming traffic. Perhaps I should've felt some empathy; it's quite likely that the woman had schizophrenia or some other sort of mental illness. But I just didn't care.

A few minutes later, the cashier came over to my table, handed me a bag with a couple of cookies, and thanked me for standing up to that freak.

So, is the moral of the story "It's okay to go crazy, because everyone else is?"

Since I haven't taken the time to VOTE YET--I thought I should remind the others who haven't voted yet either, that the DEADLINE is rapidly approaching--this coming Monday, September 30 at 11:59PM EST.

There seem to be a lotta new members lately--remember you can still vote. See the Site Announcements section for a link to the ballot.

I think I've sorta figured out what I'm gonna do...a combination of my list from last time and all the great songs I've discovered since then. Maybe I'll alterante one from last time and one new one...or something like that....I just can't agonize about it--list 25 and once I've filled the ballot, forget about it.

Then wait for the list to be published and BITCH, BITCH, BITCH!!!!
