Okay now I'm going to list my 26 "Super Rare Disco Groove" CD compilations that I've slapped together over the past 8 months. A lot of them are hard-to-find grooves but I've also put some mainstream grooves on as well despite the fact I call the compilations "Super Rare Disco Grooves". Most of them I've downloaded and some come off my records. Also the quality of the songs range from good to extremely poor, I don't worry about filtering them as the filters are a pain in the arse to use and I just throw together these compilations just so I don't wear my records out and to listen to my MP3s on my stereo system. Also it's not just disco it's also funk as well.

Funkydude,

Great stuff! By the looks of your list it seems as if you are branching out. Good to see that you are not putting up any musical boundaries. Others here have said it before, for being only 20 years of age you got the music thing going on. If more younger people were as open-minded as you about music...

FunkyDude--

I was going over your list and thought I'd add some comments to some of your selections which are faves of mine.

Vol.1--"Sugar Pie Guy" by the Joneses was a good song.
Vol.2--"Dream World" by Don Downing was another good one; it came off of "Super Rare Disco" CD, which was very good. "Dance" by Paradise Express is one of my all-time fave disco tunes. Martha and Izora in the background and doing their thing at the end--Classic!! "When The Fuel Runs Out" by Executive Suite is another great song and also came from the "Super Rare Disco" CD.
Vol.3--"I Love N.Y." by Metropolis is another great one, a definite Salsoul classic from '78!! "Sun Sun Sun" by Jakki I had never heard of until I heard the Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage CD. I have yet to hear the 9-minute version, and I'd like to soon.
Vol.5--"Come Into My Heart" by USA/European Connection was a great Boris Midney composition, and it was good enough to be included on a Billboard Top Disco Hits collection, which was a surprise. "Down To Love Town" by the Originals was a good one too; that was heard in the movie "Thank God It's Friday".
Vol.6--"Sunny" by Yambu is one of my all-time faves. I loved it when I heard for the first time about 10 years ago on a disco classics radio show in N.Y. I have this on a 45, on the Montuno label.
Vol.7--"My Claim To Fame" by James Wells is a song I'm familiar with but haven't heard the full length version of. Donna Summer's "Summer Fever" was great!! I love the part where the tension builds and lets out the oooooh that could give Minnie Riperton's bird calls a run for her money. "I'll Always Love My Mama" by the Intruders was a great 1973 disco classic.
Vol.8--"I Love Music" by the O'Jays was one of their best records. "What A Difference A Day Makes" by Esther Phillips was another good one; she even performed that song on an early "Saturday Night Live" episode in 1975. "Date With The Rain" by Eddie Kendricks was another 1973 disco classic.
Vol.9--"Cotton Candy" by the Sylvers was a song I liked by them.
Vol.10--"Spring Affair" by Donna Summer was terrific and it led into "Summer Fever" on the Four Seasons of Love album; "I Caught Your Act" by the Hues Corporation was another good one; I have that on a CD called "Club Floor Classics".

OK, Funky, I'm sitting here in the evening with a glasss of my favourite Irish Whiskey! The perfect time to go through some of your excellent lists!!

As you put so much effort in putting them together, then you deserve a bit of my time to go through them!!

Cd 1:
Eastside Connection - that went in my Top 25 and deservedly so! Great funky rhythms and great arrangements! Two tracks I have only discovered myself in the past three months or so, and I love both of 'em: Skyscrapers - fast becoming a real fave of mine...Miami and Party freaks - recorded that off one of the radio shows in London recently...Intruders track - nice track with a big Philly sound!....Rufus track - the best thing they ever did, IMHO, I remember dancin' to this many times but I don't have it in my collection...yet!! Hustle With Every Muscle

Wow! That was only the first CD!

CD 2 :
Hmm - this Scorpio track that I have yet to discover but am very intrigued about! I loved Wings Of Fire from '77. Fat Larry's Band - what can I say - one of the first underground disco records I got into in 1977 (1977 - Nuff said ) and I still play it to death!! Was in my Top 25. Paradise Express - Dance.. a really nice record more on the disco side.......Crown Heights Affair - some of their early stuff was awesome/that tune included..Archie Bell ... his stuff was always very popular over here, that one included. Turn it up!!! I think I have that Executive Suite on a K-Tel compilation but I don't know it!! Gotta dig it out!!

CD3:
Metropolis - the first US import 12" I ever bought!! It cost me a whopping £3.25 in 1978 for a 3-min and a 5-min version of the same song!! Worth every penny as I have played it so much over the years!! Jerry Butler - anybody that likes the "Ice Man" has gotta be cool in my opinion!!...Jakki - another one I've picked up on recently - superb... Undisputed Truth - superb vocals from Taka Boom (a nice picture as well!) plus a stormin' Norman production.. Perfect 1977 record!! First Choice - can go wrong with that Salsoul stormer - a real powerful record!!

CD4:
I only know 2 of the songs: Jackson Sisters was so big in the rare groove scene in the mid-80s in England that they re-relased this on a UK Urban 12". I snapped it up!!! Lyn Collins - another mid-80's re-release!! I think I've heard Black Soul being mentioned somewhere B4 -sounds interesting!

CD5: Hmmm Barrabas - Hijack. Just picked up off the radio a Herbie Mann tune called Hijack. Wonder if its the same tune? :???: I reckon they probably are!!! Bloody good tune! Blackbyrds - all their music from this era was pretty ground-breaking, IMHO, in terms of the development of jazz fusion. Seriously good track! Rose Royce - another great stormin Norman produced track. Fantastic! Biddhu Orchestra - haven't heard that one in ages! Aaah! Sweet memories!...Olympic Runners - I have the 12" but I must admit I always preferred Keep It Up!!! Steam - think I remember that one!

Hope U appreciate my comments Funky! tell you what, I will stop for now, as it's getting late but I will come back tomorrow with my comments on Cd's 6 -10. I am amazed that you have been able to delve back in to this music and come up with such strong listings! If you had played those back in the day, you would have had a heaving and packed dance floor All Night Long!!  Guaranteed!
