I've always liked "Japanese Boy", it's just such an odd but catchy song. I remember flying down to Puerto Vallarta for a vacation and jumping into a cab at the airport, and as we are bouncing down the highway, "Japanese Boy" starts playing on the radio. How droll!

It is strange that it was a no.1 in the UK as it always seems to be non-UK people who like it.:???: It's so Euro-sounding too which tends to be a no-no with Brits.

Bobby Viteritti or some of the other Trocadero DJs played it pretty regularly--cause I danced to it, liked it & bought it--I had no idea until I read it in Joel Whitburn's book, however, that the supposedly Asian Aneka was actually a Scottish folksinger named Mary-something wearing Asian wig & makeup!!! what a hoot!!!! :D:D:D

There was never a photo of Aneka that I recall on the 12"...so I was totally bamboozled by the name...That German audience watching Miss Mary Aneka seems to be sedated--wut up wit dat??? They no love Aneka??? :p;)

If only she looked like David Hasselhoff I bet those Germans would be on their feet hootin' & hollerin'!!!
