| Hi folks, this is a nightmare. JUST CURIOUS! Due to my poor english sometimes I ask myself the real meaning of some song titles.... even if I check in the dictionnary I cannot find the real meaning... son what those means??? 1. Boogie down and mess around (by Blackwell) 2. Doin' the dog (by Creme d' Cocoa) 3. Johnson Jumpin' (by Johnson Products)(?) And just another question.... when there's the "groove" is always referred to the vinyl grooves or does it mean some other things?? - The groove (R. franklin) - Still in the groove (by Raydio) - Check out this groove (B. Thurston) ......... and so and so.. Thanks....

| Masdefi: I'm English and some of the (black) American slang leaves me searching for a meaning. You are not alone. One thing I can solve though is your reference to 'Groove'. A groove is basically the 'feel' of a track or can mean when a record or bunch of records is repetitive so that an overall good feeling is achieved. To groove is to really get into a record or records and really enjoy. I don't think it has any sexual connotations, but I could be wrong. |

Like really getting "down" and lost into the music that playing at the moment.....Also, songs like "Shake Your Groove Thing," is about dancing your ass off...of course, now people say things early in the morning such as "I got to get my groove thing into gear" which is essentially saying "getting your ass out of bed" The song, Boogie Down and Mess Around" is about dancing and romancing.

| Masdefi, I am in same situation as you, some expressions often used doesn't mean much to me. In late eighties, "Jack" was often used in titles like: "Jack me till I start to scream" (this one gives me a good hint ) "The Jack that house built" (I understand that Metallica has done this one: "The house that Jack built") Jack to the sound of the underground Jack your body Jack the house Can u dance (bonus Jack) Does anyone know what does Jack means ? |

| It's not Spanish, I mean, "corrida" could refer to "corrida de toros" (you know the thing Spaniards do with their bulls) and also is sex lingo for "coming" (correrse). But "ai" means nothing in my language (fonetically sounds like "I"). No = not. So the translation would be: "I'm not ejaculating"? |

| Well Nano, Chas Jankel, an Englishman, originally wrote & recorded that tune...so there's no telling what he meant. I always assumed it was Spanish--I never bothered to ask anyone what it meant. DUH!!!!!

| A figment of Chas Jankel's mind methinks. Or could it be Japanese? |
